"TLDR: There is a lack of transparency about the prices of services and the technicians being sent to complete requested jobs. The technicians they sent were not able to complete the repair I needed and still charged me. Detailed account: My car key stopped turning in my ignition so I called about replacing the key and repairing or replacing the ignition lock. The customer service representative told me they would send someone who could do both and call me with an estimated cost and time. The technician called and said he could do both but he would start with cutting a new key. After cutting me a new key, which didn't work, he said he didn't know how to replace the ignition lock, so they would send someone the next day and call me beforehand to provide a time and an estimated cost. I tried to call that afternoon to get a price estimate, and KeyMe said the technician would call me. The technician didn't call until the next morning, and quoted me $400-500. When he arrived, my husband and I asked him about the repair and why the price was so high if he was not replacing any parts. He said it would take him 45 minutes and the high price was due to his high skill-level. I might be willing to pay such a high rate if there were a way to confirm his experience, credentials, and previous customer satisfaction, but we didn't even know his name. We decided not to use his service and found a different company who charged a $20 service fee to replace the ignition, so we paid $20 plus the cost of parts."
