A 1992 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. McKenna completed his residency with the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University. He further honed his skills through fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The Ohio State University.
Dr. McKenna's career is marked by distinguished service in the U.S. Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Associate Professor and contributed significantly to resident education. Since 2005, he has been an integral part of Perinatal Partners in Dayton, OH, bringing his expertise to the community.
Dr. McKenna's special interests include the management of preterm labor, preeclampsia, and advanced obstetrical and gynecological sonography. In 2010, he initiated the Advanced Fetal Therapy program at Miami Valley Hospital (MVH), pioneering advanced in-utero fetal procedures in the region. As the Principal Investigator for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD Maternal-Fetal Medicine Network at MVH, his research focuses on improving outcomes for pregnant women and premature infants.
A committed educator, Dr. McKenna serves as a clinical faculty member at Wright State University and is the Medical Director of The Perinatal Intensive Care Unit at MVH. He actively participates in local and state projects to enhance healthcare outcomes and address disparities in maternal and infant health.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. McKenna enjoys cycling, snowboarding, skiing, and cheering for the Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame football. He resides in Beavercreek, OH, with his wife and three children.
