SOAK Spa at The Detroit Club

"Lovely concept. Fantastic massage therapist. Truly wonderful! The receptionist asked me to pay for my service and tip 20% upon entry. She agreed to cancel it and let me pay after, but it’s a little off-putting when I hadn’t received the service yet. Very clean and well-decorated ladies’ area, bathrooms, and sauna. DUSTY soaking area! I could barely stay the 30 minutes without sneezing. You can visibly see large hairballs and lint on the floor near the Buddha statue. I’m also not sure how clean the water was. This is not acceptable. There were no cushions on the egg chairs; I guess they are just there for decoration. No candles, spa scents, or even incense burning in the halls or spa area. It’s just an oversized jacuzzi with so much dust that I left stuffy. The grotto area smelled like an abandoned basement. For the price of this experience, I expect much better. No matter the day of the week or how many clients are on the books, the service and atmosphere should always be top tier and reflective of the prices attached."

"I was booked a surprise birthday spa day by my friends which was absolutely amazing. The ambiance is incredible and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. My massage was great the massage therapist was very attentive and made sure the pressure level was good throughout the massage. I really enjoyed the jacuzzi, it was very relaxing. The place was clean and I had no concerns with sanitation. My overall experience was very pleasant and I especially enjoyed and appreciated the young lady Eva at the front desk. She was extremely helpful and made sure my experience was amazing. She was very kind with an amazing spirit."

"All the staff was WONDERFUL! My massage therapist was exceptionally well trained and experienced. She found and worked on tension knots that I have known about for a while but did not even bring up during evaluation!! I am not sharing a name…gatekeeping. Love the vintage ambiance of this spa situated in a historical building with the option to stay at the upstairs hotel and visit the dinning room. Being able to use the grotto and weight room afterwards was a plus! I would like to see; free parking for spa guests, more training on scalp massages my friend was not impressed with that add on service, unfortunately there are only 2 private places to change the shower or toilet room, and the shower drained very slowly. so expanding and updating the amenities should be a goal to improve the facility."

"OUTSTANDING!! the atmosphere was relaxing, the smells, & the music was all on point. Literally EVERYONE who helped & worked there was very nice and accommodating. Sade did an excellent massage with the right amount of pressure & she was very nice. Natasha did my facial and its obvious that she takes pride in her work & she also does an excellent job. SOAK was a vibe. The sauna & the Grotto hottub felt good after the massage. I recommend!"

"The good was the staff. The staff was WONDERFUL! Matt at the front desk was super accommodating. The massage and facial was great! The bad: this is an old building and you can tell. The place where you soak smelled like mildew and mold. There was a speaker on the ceiling that was disgusting. The sauna didn’t work. There was a locker room however the only private place to change is either the shower or the toilet room. I will not be returning here unless the amenities are updated/throughly cleaned."
