About the Business

Welcome to Dixie County Emergency Management

Located at 17600 Southeast Highway 19 in Cross City, Florida, Dixie County Emergency Management is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. As a local government office, we coordinate essential services to protect our residents during emergencies, natural disasters, and other critical situations.

Current Updates:

- Vegetative Storm Debris: FDOT crews are actively clearing debris from county roadways and right-of-ways. Please note that residential debris removal from private properties is not included. All County Roll-Off sites remain open for public use. Construction or demolition debris should be directed to the County Central Transfer Station.

- Hurricane Debby Recovery: To aid residents affected by Hurricane Debby, a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is operational at the Dixie County Public Library, located at 16328 SE Hwy 19, Cross City, FL 32628. The center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to provide assistance and resources.

Dixie County Emergency Medical Services (EMS):

Our EMS is committed to delivering top-notch services at minimal costs to taxpayers. We handle insurance billing directly to ease financial burdens and maintain a collection rate above 60%, despite challenges with uninsured patients and insurance policy shifts. For those requiring financial aid, we offer options like discounts, payment plans, and charity care.

Fire and Rescue Services:

Dixie County Fire Rescue operates with approximately 50 paid staff members and 30 volunteers across three full-time and six volunteer stations. Our team responds to around 4,000 calls annually, tackling fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous material incidents, and more. We strive to enhance the quality of life and safety for all residents.

Community Education and Training:

As a certified training center through American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), we offer CPR/AED and Basic First Aid courses for the community and healthcare providers. These courses aim to equip individuals with essential lifesaving skills and knowledge.

For more information or to register for courses, please contact us or visit our website. Dixie County is dedicated to ensuring website accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Explore our Americans with Disabilities Act compliance page to learn more about assistive technology.

For non-emergency scheduled transport services, contact the Suwannee River Economic Council at 352-498-5018 extension 22.
