"I would like to make a suggestion to you and other surrounding builders here in the nature coast. With all the construction, I mean destruction, the landowners should be present when their land is being cleared, especially when mature wooded areas are being scalped for a small space of a home. Curb appeal is character of the area by having trees hiding the home. I mean a home to me in the nature coast is surrounded by nature. Stats show homes hidden in mature wooded areas have higher value, higher sellable increase in return, and much more equity in the end. It’s only later that owners realize they do NEED shade from their now gone tree canopy and bring in an arborist to learn about this area. Large stands of trees and fauna are a wind breaker for our heavy storms (source UF) and not to mention many times of year our precious wildlife are nesting and as you know we have many protected species. And, yes, it’s a federal offense to disrupt bird nests. We will never know the beings that go down with the clearing of land. Land owners need to oversee their lots being cleared."
