Dr. Rohit Barreto

"I had the pleasure of having a Doctor for many years since I was a teen. Unfortunately, my doctor retired and Dr. R Barreto took over the clinic on Bloor and the practice from my previously doctor. Dr. Rohit Barreto is not a doctor that I would recommend to the average person. This doctor is practicing for his own personal gain and creating a two tier health care system in Ontario. His interests are in money making venture for his rock star image. He is not compassionate and charges his patients dollars on services that ought not to be charged. A simple note for a work absence has destroyed our relationship. I have paid his office for previous note, prescriptions, disability claims, etc. Without hesitation. However, since my health has been deteriorating he has not been helpful. The compassion from Dr. R Barreto is non existent. All this over a note that he wishes to charge beyond his annual $160 for services as he may feel fitting. This week, I needed my anxiety medication prescription renewed. I contacted the pharmacy to renew, there was one prescription that was waiting for me there. The pharmacy had advised that the Dr.(Rohit Barreto) did not send a renewal notice. This was an inconvenience, it doesn't make sense how a Doctor would renew one prescription and not the other for an anxiety disorder. Upon contacting his office, they advised me that Dr. Barreto is withholding the renewal for my anxiety medication because of a $17 dollar note that I had refuse to take. The Doctor would not support the date that I was away from work due to my Rheumatoid Arthritis condition. Dr. Rohit Barreto and I spoke over the phone (appointment) and he would not support the date of my absence from work because (OHIP dollars), I was not seen by him. It is a shock that he has sent me a registered letter terminating his treatment over an $17 note. I am not a threat to his practice, nor his staff, and it is not ethical for him to take these extreme measures to cancel out one patient. Where is the compassion for the patients? I know that the Bloor st. office that Dr Rohit Barreto has taken over had many patients of low income and have lives that requires patience, compassion and a higher level of ethics that is not portrait by Dr. Rohit Barreto. My previous Doctor who was very compassionate and had the interests of his patience first would not do this type of action in cancelling out a patient. The people that were left for Dr Rohit Barreto were expecting the same high level of doctor patient care that the previous Doctor provided for decades. Shame on Doctor Rohit Barreto, his money making ventures may have his patients pay for his Lamborghini and his rock star status. Compassion at this office is not worthy of a practice in Ontario where we ought to enjoyed good quality care. This doctor (Rohit Barreto) is creating a two tier health care system. If you cannot pay $17 dollars for a pdf note, you are cancelled out. My parents did not immigrate to this country in the 1970's for this type of Health Care. They put me here because we have had compassionate care, doctors with higher level of ethics, it is sad that Dr. Rohit Barreto does not portray such values. P.s, my Rheumatologist gave me a work note for ZERO dollars. A specialist gave me a note at no charge, and she is providing excellent care. Fortunately for me, it was my retired doctor who referred me to the Rheumatologist."
