"My 37 year old daughter has suffered periodic and debilitating stomach pain for over 8 years. It began after the birth of her first child. We always thought it was her gallbladder but after numerous trips to the ER, ultrasounds, blood work, urine samples and endoscopic procedures, we were told, “We can’t find anything.” On April 27, 2019, after three hours and four episodes of excruciating pain, she called me and cried, “Please take me to the ER.” I drove her to the Crouse Hospital ER. As we were admitted, I hoped beyond hope an internist would be available regardless of the late hour. However, it was 11:30 pm on a Saturday night making our chances slim to none. As the clock ticked toward 2:00 am, Dr. Hasan Zakariyya came into my daughter’s room. He began to examine her while asking many questions. He was not only the consumate professional, but he had a kind bedside manner. His questions were detailed and direct as my daughter answered him. After 15 minutes, he determined it was her gallbladder and ordered a HIDA test. He explained the workings of the gallbladder to us, all the while explaining why hers wasn’t working. FINALLY, definitive answers were coming forth with a solution-based doctor. Once we left the hospital, with a diagnosis and immediate treatment plan, I Googled this kind doctor. Guess What?? He is an Internist - who happened to be working that night. Who knew. With hope fulfilled, and prayers truly answered, I wanted you to know how extraordinary Dr. Zakariyya is as a diagnostic physician, teacher and human being. With the heart of a mother, whose child has suffered in pain for many years, know that help is here for you and your loved ones too. He has my highest regard, recommendation and respect.
