"This is right next to the Morton. A residential high-rise under construction in Downtown Salt Lake City turned into what may be the world’s largest whistle when strong winds moving through the panels wrapping the parking podium let out a loud and high-pitched sound on Friday. The the loud noise could be heard from blocks in any direction of the site of the Worthington Tower on the northeast corner of 200 E. 300 S. in the Central City neighborhood. Neighbors reported contacting the city and county for answers and action as the slats of the podium let out varying pitches throughout the day. “We live a half block south and have been hearing extremely loud screeching/whistling noises the last few days,” a reader told us. “After calling several city offices, the County Health department says they’ve had many calls/complaints, and it turns out the noise it caused by the wind blowing through the parking structure panels turning the building into the world’s largest whistle.” Watch the video to hear for yourself. The 31-story building is set to have 359 apartments ranging from one to three beds. It will top out at 335 feet, placing it within the top 10 tallest in Salt Lake City. The building is one of two new high-rises that will open for leasing soon. A few blocks northwest, Astra Tower is set to become the tallest building in the state and will begin leasing later this year. Representatives from Convexity Properties, High Boy Ventures and Timberlane Partners didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday and city and county offices were closed. "At the time of writing this I believe I might be the longest tenured tenant in the building. I have lived here for almost four years and have seen multiple sets of onsite management come and go. There have been some ups and downs during my time here, but the current team of Jackson & Tabitha have been absolutely wonderful. Their efforts and changes have made the Morton feel like a community and have added a ton of value to the living experience. Under the last management team I was ready to break my lease and leave. With Jackson & Tabitha I am finding myself sad to move out, and would have definitely stayed if work was not taking me elsewhere."

I previously reviewed 3/5 but the new management and clear efforts to improve the property have changed my mind and convinced me to stay. There are some challenges with noise and ongoing construction. But the building is great, the staff is kind and helpful (thank you Tabytha!), and the location is pretty much unbeatable."

"The Morton is in a great location, right in downtown SLC. The amenities are top notch, and I can never get over the lovely view from the top floor clubhouse. The community here is also a bit more professional than other locations in town that I've seen, so it doesn't have that college dorm vibe which can really cheapen the living experience. My interactions with the staff has been very positive, and I can't stress enough how good a crew they have here. Jojo is helpful, responsive, and professional as the leasing agent for the building; you can't ask for better service. I've seen her come in on her days off to make sure new residents move in smoothly, that's her level of dedication. Christian has been very engaging with maintenance, which is very refreshing compared to a lot of other buildings/complexes out there. Any problems in the apartment will be taken care of promptly and efficiently. And Kaitlyn is super friendly and keeps things running smoothly. Given how unreasonable some of the tenants here have been, I'm surprised at how positive she keeps her staff day after day, which isn't easy to do when you're the boss. Baby, don't sleep on The Morton! Location, quality, and service in one package, definitely consider it if you want a good downtown living experience in SLC."
