Excel Eye Center: Lehi

"Make sure to pay your bill, no matter how ridiculous their charge is. They will send you to collections, and have an attorney take you to court. Never again visiting anyone of these locations."

"Currently sitting in their waiting room, 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment. I signed up for an 8:30 appointment because I had other places to be this holiday morning. I am extremely disappointed in my service. My husband, who works in urgent care (which infamously has bad wait times) said that that long of a wait would have even been disgraceful for them."

"I scheduled my annual exam with the Lehi Excel Eye Center a year in advance, so I have it set and on my calendar ahead of time. This past year my appointment was for Nov. 2023. Unfortunately I lost my job earlier that month, so I had no income and no insurance. I emailed and called to cancel my appointment, therefore, which they did, initially. However, a few days later, someone from their office called me to reschedule a new appointment. She informed me that if I was able to get insurance by December that the cost of the appointment would be covered by insurance. I informed her that, in order to keep the costs as low as possible, that I would only be able to do a basic eye check, since I could not afford any "extra fees." When I arrived for my appointment, I again informed one of the 3 or 4 receptionists at the desk that day that I could not afford to pay for any "extra fees" or extra services beyond the basic eye check, and she said that would be fine. However, when I came out of my appointment to check out I was informed me that I needed to pay for the extra fees, since insurance wouldn't cover the entire cost of the appointment. I was very frustrated by this, but I paid them even though we didn't have the money. A few weeks later I was sent ANOTHER BILL, a notice for even more fees that the insurance didn't cover. I again called their billing office, and was told that my insurance did NOT cover the full balance of the cost, even with their "extra fees." So, again, I paid this additional cost, even though I still do not have work. I understand that at times insurance providers don't completely cover costs, but I strongly feel that the Lehi Excel Eye Center was deceptive in the way they led me to believe that my costs would be kept to a minimum and then I was charged additional fees 2 different times. I believe their office was dishonest with me in the way they tried to get me to sign up for a second appointment, knowing that I didn't have income, and falsely assured me that the costs would be covered by insurance. I even asked them if there was a way to get some relief from the "extra fees," since I didn't have work. They did not even respond to this email message, but later sent a second bill to inform me of additional costs. Sadly, in the future I will take my business elsewhere, hopefully to an eye clinic that will be more understanding when I don't have income for their "extra fees.""
