Split Mountain Motel

"I told the owner I’d write a review. Things I like; it’s cheap, it’s conveniently located. Things I don’t like; it’s next to a loud busy road and the walls are thin. Some people seem to hate this place but dude it was like $70 for a night, what did you expect? The room was average, the shower was decent, I didn’t have the breakfast (it was closed at 10:30am when I tried). Overall I’m happy with this motel. If you need a cheap place to stay and don’t expect much this is perfect for you. If you want more than that go to a best western."

"The rooms are in good condition. Clean. Management does a good job. It is a great place for a long or short stay. Good parking. Good location. Close to downtown where all the action is."

"Stayed here before my adventure to explore Dinosaur National Monument. Wonderful time at Split Mountain Motel, Tej checked me in and him and his manager accommodated my needs well, I walked in the day of without a reservation and they had a room available for me. Room was clean, heater worked great on an unexpected snow day, and close to town to pick up a quick dinner but far enough away to not be bothered with the nightlife. The manager even recommended the Moonshine Arch hike, had it not snowed in the morning it was on my list but I will definitely come back to check it out, thanks for the tip! Would definitely recommend Split Mountain to anyone looking for a stay in Vernal or those who need room quick on the road!"

"I think this Motel has much better ratings than it should have. My room was 205 and the first thing I not was that the deadbolt wouldn't work on the door. That always feels so unsafe to me. Even the envelope for the key says to always lock the door. Well I couldn't, so I ended up pushing a chair up under the handle for the extra security. The next thing I noticed was that there was a holder for a blow dryer, but no blow dryer. Then I noticed that there was no remote control for the TV. They have Direct TV, but no remote to watch it. The toilet in the bathroom was dirty and looked like someone had used it in an emergency, if you know what I mean. I had to clean it myself with a tissue and hand sanitizer. The bed sheets had hair in them, which lead me to believe they hadn't been cleaned. The room smelled, the fridge was dirty, the bathtub creaked really bad and it took me forever to figure out how to turn on the water in the shower. For anyone crazy enough to stay here, you have to pull back the handle toward you to turn it on and hopefully the handle won't be broken and try to cut you like mine did. The only good thing about the room was the bed. I pulled back the sheet to check for bedbugs and the mattress was stained pretty bad, but I didn't find bedbugs and it was actually a pretty comfy bed. Luckily I was pretty busy during my stay in town, so I didn't have to spend very much time there. I have definitely learned my lesson to plan ahead so that I don't have to stay here again."
