"In the past I had gone to the same dental practice for 25 years. I had an insurance change and moved a few miles east so I tried a few new practices that took insurance (MetLife) and claimed to be in network. The only places I could track down were mostly franchise operations that unfortunately resulted in experiences that left me dreading even basic cleanings. As anyone would be, I was nervous to startup my search again for fear of having another negative experience and being judged for the extended lapse in cleaning. I heard Boulder Smiles came highly recommended and that Doctor Russ took pride in providing the highest quality care and held that as a priority over getting people out of chairs as quickly as possible. Every step of the process I felt cared for, important and encouraged about my dental health. They explained how they run billing differently by submitting to insurance on your behalf and having you pay directly after each visit. It makes sense to me as it reduces the friction for the practice when compared to waiting for reimbursement from multiple different carriers. The total cost of the services were completely in-line with expectation and what I was quoted over the phone. I suspect insurance will cover a meaningful portion if not all of the necessary work. Any additional cost to me directly over the “in network” franchise experience will be well worth it and here’s why. Enrique was an incredible dental assistant who was warm, kind and happy to pause what he was doing to answer questions. He asked about my past experiences and I could tell he adjusted his care to accommodate my fears. I had also heard that Doctor Russ uses the highest quality technology and newest techniques in dental care. This was confirmed when Meghan gave me the best cleaning I think I’ve ever had. They use something called an airflow that reduces the amount of traditional plaque scraping to near zero which is beyond a pleasant change. I had considered whitening; the cleaning alone provided an immediately brighter smile. Meghan also was very encouraging about my smile and dental health despite my insecurities/imperfections which is honestly something I was hoping for. Dr. Russ spent ample time with me to confirm my clear X-rays and dental history. She also helped me consider aesthetic options for my smile which I expressed interest in prior to my health screening. She is kinda, warm and extremely knowledgeable. I’m headed back in a few weeks and will recommend Boulder Smiles to my closest friends."
