UnityPoint Clinic Urgent Care - Altoona

UnityPoint Clinic Urgent Care in Altoona, Iowa, is a convenient option for individuals seeking treatment for minor medical issues and injuries that are not life-threatening but require attention from a healthcare provider. Located at 2720 8th Street Southwest, our Urgent Care clinic offers walk-in care without the need for an appointment, making it easier for patients to receive the care they need at a time that works best for them.

Patients can check the number of individuals currently waiting at the clinic online to help reduce their wait time. It's important to note that wait times are estimates and can vary based on the number of new patients arriving and their medical needs. Urgent Care is available after hours, on weekends, and holidays, providing treatment for minor illnesses and injuries such as flu symptoms, minor cuts, sprains, and more.

For individuals seeking virtual care options, UnityPoint Health offers online consultations through MyUnityPoint for minor, common ailments and illnesses. Virtual urgent care and SmartExam services are available every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for individuals aged 2 years and older located in Iowa.

In case of a serious or life-threatening medical emergency, individuals are advised to call 911 immediately or visit the Emergency Department. UnityPoint Clinic Urgent Care does not provide services such as flu shots, physicals, or sports physicals at every location, so it's recommended to check with your primary care provider for same-day appointments before visiting the walk-in care clinic.

"I went in on a Saturday, expecting it to be busy, but I only had to wait 10 minutes in the waiting room and then only a couple more minutes for the doctor. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful."

"UPDATE - I received the standard reply ' we take these matters seriously'.....blah blah, here's a link. If they really cared they would have called me to discuss. Google reviews are for the public. Please dont act like you really care. You've submitted the claim to my insurance, you're getting paid. The public needs to know that you did not take care of my child and to think twice before trusting this clinic will get it right. Our PCP told us to go to urgent care for my daughter who was suffering from an infection. She gave us antibiotics. 3 days later we are in the ER. Apparently she has prescribed the wrong antibiotics, the infection has gotten worse, she is writhing in pain and will most likely need surgery. We tried to do the right thing by seeking help outside of the ER, but we ended up here anyway. Going to this urgent care was a joke. Waste of time and money."

"I had the absolute worst experience EVER with pathetic doctor she shouldn’t even be giving the title of a doctor but her name is Nikala Prasasouk. I went in with an infected toe. When she came in from the jump her attitude and vibe was completely rude and seemed like she didn’t want to attend to me. If that is the case why are you in a medical field. You have people’s hands in your life. I had told her my whole left side of my body is numb and can’t barely walk nor have any type of feeling. I kid you now she looked at me and said “ well okay i know you’re lying because you would’ve dropped dead by now if something was seriously wrong with you “ I looked at her and had asked her what does she mean she looked at me and said “ nothing “ I also think since I am a person of colored in a predominantly white neighborhood I was a target of racism. She wouldn’t even give me any type of antibiotics to treat my infection I had to literally cry and beg her to. She came in and looked at my foot and said “ i’m not doing anything for you. you’re going to have to go to see a podiatrist, it’s out of my hand “. I was so scared that if I was in her care any longer i could’ve died. I had to end up going to the ER after I left her pathetic service. I EXTREMELY HIGHLY WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO COME TO THIS FACILITY. On another note if you’re ever feeling suicidal please come into the care of Nikala Prasasouk , shell gladly help you take your own life. She’ll kill you without any problems. PEOPLE OF COLOR PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!! unless you want to die and it be ruled “ accidental” for her negligence. Besides her I absolutely loved everyone there from the young lady who checked me in to the nurse. We need more people like them. True hero’s. NOT Nikala Prasasouk who’s a monster!"
