About the Business
Hope Ministries Thrift Store is a charitable institution located at 4640 Merle Hay Road in Urbandale, Iowa, United States. Our store operates Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with donation hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Revenue from our thrift store supports Hope Ministries’ programs and services for individuals who are homeless, hungry, abused, or addicted.
We offer employment opportunities for mission-minded individuals on our retail and processing teams. Additionally, we have a partnership program called Corners of Your Field with local churches to encourage donations of gently used household items. Donations can be dropped off at our stores or picked up from your home or office.
Our goal is to be good stewards of every donation we receive. We accept a variety of items including furniture, toys, clothing, household items, and appliances. Some donations are distributed free to our guests and clients, while others are sold in our stores. We also resell items such as cars, rare books, collectibles, and antiques through partnerships to maximize impact within our ministry. "When they first opened, this was my favorite thrift store to donate to and to shop at. However, their prices are unreasonably high now, and they got rid of the discount tag items on everything aside from furniture. Considering everything is donated, it’s disappointing to see greed come into play."
"This used to be my favorite thrift store. It was a little more expensive, but had some really nice items. The last couple times I have been in there this summer, the prices were crazy. Items were priced higher than consignment. Not sure who is managing the store now and driving the change, but they are pricing themselves out of business."
