5 Borough Bagels

"I'll be here to change my review in the future when I've had a better food experience. The first few times I went after they first opened were really good. Unfortunately, for my partners birthday I wanted to bring him this place for lunch. Spent 40 bucks on two sandwhiches and two drinks. When I left and brought the birthday man his food, both of our bagels were so dark, essentially burnt, barely able to bite through the bagel it was so overcooked. We had to restort to taking off the top part eventually. I'd recommend asking for a good bagel/ask if the one you picked is burnt, and if so get one that isnt to save your teeth and mouth skin from getting ripped up. Given whoever baked that batch would rather continue to serve something of near inedible quality instead of remaking the batch. (Edit: Wish there was a reply option for me, but I appreciate the gesture. I’d like to talk about it when time allows me!)"

"Atmosphere: Amazing Staff: Amazing Food: Amazing Wait time: Short Mmmmm the best bagels In the Des Moines area! Get yourself a bagel sandwich! The empire is wonderful for breakfast. Anything with pastrami is great for lunch! I like getting mine with spicy cream cheese! If you want the bagel on the side, the breakfast bowl is amazing! I also recommend getting their delicious bagels by themselves , toasted and sliced. They have a wide variety of cream cheeses with many flavors. This would be great for a get together!"

"Following another person’s review, I ordered “The Empire” bagel with bacon sriracha cream cheese. It was delicious! I would get it again, but next time I’ll ask them to go lighter on the cream cheese. There was so much it was oozing out of the sides with every bite and I had to keep wiping the sandwich off because it was way too much. My car is now almost without napkins due to this messy thing clearing it out LOL. It’s also A LOT of meat. One bagel was enough for two meals for me. :) But soooo good. Also ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on a cheesy bagel. Was great as well!"

"If you're looking for the best bagel breakfast sandwich here it is! I got "The Empire" on an Asiago bagel with Sriracha bacon cream cheese. I'm not sure how to describe this without crying knowing my hands are empty and my delicious sandwich is gone. Also tried the ham, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel. Fresh ingredients, perfect soft bagel, and a beautiful blend of flavors! If you think you can handle a life-changing breakfast experience like that, then go! The staff was also amazingly friendly and the store was very clean. Stop saying that "you wanna go sometime" and just do it!"

"Super cute spot right down the street from the window tinting shop I dropped my truck at. LOVE the gelato style smear selection, the adorable French door style display case for the bagels and the rope light city scape! Yummy breakfast/ lunch sandwiches and a friendly staff. Great place to take your computer and get some work done!"
