"We wanted to try this place for a while, and it did not disappoint. I had the pork and potato stew, and it was very rich in flavor. The service was good even though there were only a couple servers working. The atmosphere could use more decorations, but the artwork on the walls are a nice touch. It's a very unique place with options you won't likely find anywhere else in Central Iowa. Highly recommend."

"Had an amazing dinner here. We went, not knowing what to expect, but were blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The service was great as well. We had the OHN NO KHAO SWE (coconut chicken noodle soup), the LAPHAT THOKE (tea leaf salad) and the ZAKAW HTAMIN (plate of like nine different things). Everything we had was unique and delicious. Can't compare these flavors to any other Asian cuisine, completely unique and amazing. Would absolutely recommend."

"The food is so flavorful and colorful. This was my third time there and it seems to get better each time. The owner served us and she was delightful. Pictured are the number 43 (in the bamboo basket) and number 6 (the soup)."

"Outstanding food and experience! Our server Lum N was amazing and gave great recommendations. We ordered "family style" and shared all the dishes. Samosa's (had them vegetarian), Fried Tofu (so amazing with the Tamarind sauce), Ohn No Khao Swe (Coconut Chicken Noodle), Khauk Swe Jaw (Fried Wheat Noodles), Ah Thoke Sone (Rainbow Salad), and a Ginger Salad. The Ginger Salad was not on the menu, but was something we really wanted. It so happened that the cook in the back knew how to make us one! My favorite? The Rainbow Salad hands down. A restaurant must possess three key elements: fantastic food, exceptional service, and affordable prices. MinGaLaBar has all three. It's becoming increasingly rare these days to find a place that excels at reasonable prices. Walking away from the restaurant, I couldn't help but feel absolutely delighted by the whole experience."

"We had a large variety of appetizers and dishes at MinGaLaBar. All were very fresh. All tasted great and were of good quality ingredients. It was quiet and a nice dinner. Service was not intrusive. We will go back. Food is not heavily salted here. This is NOT Chinese cooking. Burmese dishes are traditionally mild."
