"If I could rate this a 0 I would. I ate there for the buffet last week. I am a former pizza ranch employee myself. This location definitely needs corporate to come in and do an overhaul. The cheesy breadsticks are cut so small they are smaller than your pinky when in training I was taught to cut them bigger and all they tasted like were the crust because they were cut so small. Also, they were not bringing out fresh food really at all. They had food that was not under the warmer and was sitting out where the plates were and it was very very cold. The pizzas on the buffet are not labeled as to what it is so it is kind of like roulette if you see one but you don’t know what it is but you have to take it to see if you want to eat it. For the cactus bread, they are required to serve medium cactus bread on the buffet and they were serving the small ones and looked like they were sitting under the warmer for more than the required 20-30 minutes before it looks bad to even take. Definitely never coming back to this location and will try another one because this pizza ranch deserves to be retrained or be permanently closed."

"After two separate 1-star experiences at Pizza Ranch locations in Waukee and Winterset, I gave up on what had previously been one of my favorite resturant chains. Years later and I found myself walking in the door at the Urbandale location with limited expectations. I was happily surprised! The male cashier (I regret not getting his name) who greeted me was phenomenal. The level of service, his contagious smile, and attention to detail were next level. It felt like I had walked into a Chick-fil-A and was greeted by the franchise owner. In stark contrast to my other Pizza Ranch experiences, the food here was fantastic. Starting with a fully stocked and fresh salad bar; no missing ingredients, no frost burnt lettuce. The pizzas were also all high quality, rich in toppings, and masterfully prepared. (Too often pizza buffets skimp on ‘expensive’ toppings such as meat and cheese, but not here!) Admittedly, the woman clearing dishes came by more often than I would have preferred, trying to take plates away while I’m still eating from them. Though, I could see she was well meaning and just trying to be helpful. Another small negative was 2-3 week’s buildup of dust on the lamp shades above each table. While it was at eye level when I’m standing, this may have been missed by a sub 6’ cleaning staff. Still, my overall experience was excellent from start to finish. Hey, even the ice cream machine was working! I’ve already returned a second time and plan on doing so again before heading back overseas."

"The staff was very friendly and accommodating!! Without prior notice, they were able to set our family up with a separate room for my sons birthday!! 9 adults and 8 children!! Thank you, management and staff of The Pizza Ranch, for your help, professionalism, and kindness!!!"

"I will post my review again as it got deleted. When we were here the dude who brought our pizza to us dropped 3 very hot slides of pizza on my wife's hand., he didn't apologize. Then as we were continuing to eat the lady who was picking up "trash". Picked up the 4 napkins I just pulled out of the thing and sat at the table so my family didn't cross in front of anyone's face or plate while they were eating and said I'll get this trash out of here as I proceed to inform her that it wasnt trash pick up the napkins and than tried to place them back into our table like her hands were just all over them. Then another dude that idk where he came from came up to our table and just stared at my mom and didn't say a single word and made her and everyone at our table very uncomfortable. As we were leaving we asked to talk to the manager all he could say we (pizza ranch) are training different people on different job titles. He didn't apologize for how we were treated or anything. I can tell you I will definitely drive the extra for Ankeny store instead of Urbandale. It was absolutely ridiculous after I just spent $80+ for dinner and tip."
