Tasty Tacos

"If you're into fried flour tacos, they are as advertised, a very "tasty taco." My go to is the cheese enchilada. It's not a "traditional" enchilada by any sense of the term, as it doesn't come with any bells and whistles. Just a tortilla jammed with cheese, both in and out. I dump my 3 oz cup of salsa on it. Very tasty. The steak enchilada is very tasty as well, in my opinion. But, again, not a classic enchilada. And some people may find the steak bits too dry. It's more akin to rehydrated chipped beef than steak, but I thoroughly enjoy it. I grew up in Southern California, so it took a few visits to get accustomed to this style of taco. So, if you're expecting a taqueria experience, you'll need to adjust your expectations."

"I ordered supreme nachos con queso, did you know supreme means just meat extra?! I honestly thought supreme meant lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and the goodies but nah when I asked for the original meat I got charged for a flour tortilla… $4 extra! Then I had to go back up for my brownie, which is packaged. They do change a service fee as well. The woman’s bathroom handle was either broken or very occupied. Anyways, just not a good experience."

"Oh my... I loved Tasty Tacos, and was so looking forward to enjoying them this eve... no luck sailor... they've changed... from hero to zero! The shells weren't soft, floury... but hard, tough, old... there was almost no meat and cabbage in place of lettuce...and the hot sauce tasted like burnt left overs. I bought two 'original' tacos... eat one and threw the other out! This isn't moving from A to A- , it's moving to D-.! And they weren't busy, now we know why. Give serious thought before eating here!"

"A Des Moines institution; you must try the "original flour taco" really the best thing on the menu. This is a local, family run chain of tex mex fast food restaurants. They expanded over the last ten years to the point that they sell the taco seasoning and hot sauce/salsa in Hy-Vee the local grocery stores. What makes a tasty taco is the filling, a mixture of meat, beans, and seasoning. Topped with shredded cheddar cheese, add some of their spicy salsa for a crunchy tasty taco. I would say not a place for vegan type food."

"We came here for a work meeting around lunch time and this place is really busy! They offer a lot seating, house salsa on the tables and a condiments station. The lady taking the orders seemed pretty irritated but everyone has bad days or goes to work when they don't want to so it didn't bother me. I ordered the chicken tacos and my friend told me to just order two because they are fairly large and she is right! The fluffy soft taco was beyond AMAZING!!!! Loaded with toppings and a great price of 3.75 per taco. Delicious food and I will be back."
