"As much as I’d like to give this place a good review, my experience here has been dreadful. I left feeling defeated, anxious and worse than I did before my partner and I scheduled a session with Krystal Derby. Upon first meeting, she seemed kind, compassionate and someone who can help my partner and I go through our difficulties. Neither of us have ever been to couples therapy so it was a new experience without really knowing what would happen. My partner and I went in to seek help, so I thought it would be a safe place to open up. To make this short, after a second session with Krystal, I felt she was more annoyed at me when I spoke, in comparison to my partner. She would just stare at me in silence when I would speak (which I thought was normal) until when it was my partners turn, she was always more engaging and seemed supportive of him. I felt after I spoke, it was followed by awkward silence. Going through our difficulties and opening up was already intimidating enough. Emotions run high and whenever I started to get emotional or cry I was met with what seemed like an annoyed face from her. During our second session when I brought up I did not feel safe sharing my side and that I was starting to get anxious, it would be long pauses of dead silence while she just stared at me. It got to the point where my partner and I were talking about our experiences and while I listened to her be supportive of him I got emotional and decided to walk out 25-30 minutes into our session. My partner followed me trying to convince me to go back in so I did. When we returned she was away from the room, she returned with all her belongings packed up. I apologized to her for walking out which she did not acknowledged (like everything I’ve ever said to her) then says something around the lines of “oh we are continuing?” She seemed annoyed, sat down and met us with silence again. Staring at my partner and I like we ruined her being able to leave early. It’s almost like she just wanted to watch us in silence. I had to ask her to speak and when she did, she spent most of her time lecturing me (not my partner) how she runs her practice and how she doesn’t take sides even though the issue here was her being bias. I have not mentioned once to her about her choosing my partners side but that I felt I was getting misunderstood and unheard. So for her to even lecture me on that, was her being aware of how she was making me feel. To end the session she continued to speak blaming and lecturing saying things like ”well since you want me to talk…etc” “if you didn’t interrupt, you would’ve had time to give your side” and then basically started telling us she may not be fit for us. When the time was up, she stayed seated, in silence, telling us our session was over and did not get up to walk us out. I had to open the doors and leave, as she said “have a nice day” as we left. Even though my partner felt supported by her, he even mentioned how rude and unprofessional that treatment was and that it didn’t matter what we are bringing to her, it should have not been met this way. I left feeling worse and that Krystal was just annoyed and towards the end, petty towards us."
"Jessica is one of the best therapist I have ever had. I came in with a lot of worries and abandonment issues, and she showed me that I have developed anxious attachment and constantly needing approval of others. She worked continuously to ensure it’s important to love myself and become a better man. She is a wonderful person that truely cares about her clients and I have already seen changes in the little time I have seen her. I can’t imagine going to anyone else!"
"Jessica is a kind a patient listener. She is supportive but also not afraid to help you question your own assumptions. Discussing these thoughts with a professional helps me to better at articulating my needs and understanding my partner's. In our relationship I am better able to accomplish our goals and not be overwhelmed by emotion."
"Jessica has been a huge help to me during a major transitional period in my life including new jobs, divorce, and social stressors. She is empathetic, compassionate, and reflective in her work. I have been to several therapist over the years and never really felt like I was making any lasting changes in my life. With Jessica's help, I have learned to set health boundaries and let go of negative messages from the past. I am now moving forward with new confidence and emotional balance."
"Jessica Jane has helped support me through a tough period in my life. Married life is not what I thought it would be, but with Jessica's help, my husband and I are working through our problems in a more constructive way. She made us feel comfortable and was not judgmental (this was helpful as my husband thought going to a therapist would mean someone ganging up on him... not the case here!). I would recommend Jessica to anyone else that values their relationship and just needs help making it through the tougher times."
