El Cortez Apartments

"New update: it’s been 5 months since I’ve moved out and I never recieved my security deposit. Despite a long email chain showing proof of payment and multiple phone calls, the apartment eventually ghosted me and never repaid me. All negative reviews are accurate and I would not recommend anyone live here. Water and AC regularly got turned off for "maintenance." The AC was turned off without notice or mention from November to April, so it got to 80 degrees inside the apartments. The wifi regularly goes out if you work from home. Trash is scattered in the hallways and we had a cockroach issue while I was there. Also they will refuse to give you your security deposit back. Stay away from this complex."

"This is Apartments complex is horrible: Dirty, Smelly and Nasty. I asked to be transferred out my initial unit because of the neighborhood under me who kept me up all night with yelling. They moved me out that unit to A Dirty and Dusty unit, when I toured it before the transfer; I seen how Dirty it was and they said a "cleaning crew" would clean unit before I moved in ( (which would only be 3 days before move in) : They lied!!!!dusty floor,vents spider webs . Maybe I should bring a newscast or health department in. They never answer the phone but I'll make visit downstairs on my free time."

"Moved out of here back in May and still have not received my security deposit. El Cortez is saying because of floor damage and are trying to charge me for them to fix it when I have prove to them that the water damage on the flooring was not caused by me but by a flood in the complex that also affected other units in the 1st level. There’s new management every month or so and no one seems to have an answer for me. Horrible communication within employees and everyone living there. Water and AC kept constantly getting shut down for maintenance. Maintenance always took forever to get back to tickets and fixtures in unit. I’ve been trying to speak to higher management and no one wants to give me their information."

"I’ve been living here the past two years, and get coffee in the office. Love the current management staff!! Wish we had more community get-togethers though. Wish I saw more of that because we are a community and not just a complex."

"Nov update: el Cortez Did send me a check for $75 when I left the complex. BUT I signed a paper with them that had $125 no $75. After contacting them that’s when all this started. They have my contact info and never reached to me but I called them MANY times. September Update: no answer from anyone or any answer regarding my deposit. They have changed management AGAIN! Update: I left on march and it’s July and I HAVE NOT GOTTEN MY DEPOSIT BACK. They sent me what they want it and not what I was supposed to get. BEWARE, they don’t pay back deposits. It’s been 4+ months since I left the complex and haven’t received my deposit back. It takes 10+ calls for you to reach management and it won’t be the right person. They’ll tell you to call again. When am I getting my deposit back?!?? DO not move to this apartments. There are so many better for the same price. This building has so many issues. Every month they cut services. Save money and mental health."
