"My wife surprised me with this as a Father's Day gift. I'm an airline pilot and the idea of not being in complete control doesn't sit well with me. So it came as a surprise to me how much I enjoyed this ride. Rodney is incredibly skilled and safe and I really appreciated the time he spent educating me about his thought processes and planning. His wife and son are a vital part of his business and they are fun and precious too. The entire reason I got into flying in the first place is because I enjoy the sensation of the ground moving beneath me. Doing this in a hot air balloon is fantastic because you stay down low and with the gentle wind pushing you along it's incredibly peaceful and you feel that flying sensation the entire time...just a healthy distance above treetop level and really quiet (when the flame isn't blasting!). I would do this again in a heartbeat. I think I always figured ballooning was just kind of stupid because you go up and where ever the wind takes you you're stuck going there and you'd better hope your ground crew finds you. But I learned today it's way more fun and interesting and challenging than that and that there's some really cool ways they can control the balloon path over the ground by using the variable winds at different altitudes. Before we got airborne Rodney told us where he expected we would land. And sure enough we gently landed exactly where he said we would. I'm truly amazed at this man's skill. There was NOTHING about this balloon ride that made me even slightly nervous. I highly recommend it!"
