Reviews
"If I could give the Albany Downtown Association 100 stars I would. Having had a business in another state with absolutely no downtown association and having considered a nearby city where there was almost zero support from their association, I chose Albany because of the incredible support from the board and staff here. It is always the responsibility of a business for its own success, but the events sponsored by the Downtown Association, the endless hours of work everyone puts in truly helps us small business owners. The open door policy and the opportunity to sound off ideas with other members is such a value to our community. Thank you so very much for caring about our success!"
"My family and I have spent countless hours volunteering with the Albany Downtown Association (ADA) over the past 5 years with different events, committees, and I even serve on their board. Although they are a membership based organization, they work hard to promote and assist all of Downtown Albany and I have witnessed so much positive change and growth since we moved here in 2012. They offer a ton of resources and opportunities to their members. The ADA is responsible for movies in the park every summer, our Downtown Twice Around Parade ever winter, and many other events that bring our community together - all with only 2 paid employees! They are an organization that I am proud to volunteer with and be associated with and they make our area a great place to be for families."
"Maybe the Albany Downtown Association should look inward at how they can be better when a business owner has issues. Instead, your member intentionally deters business away from small business owners because they complained. As a member of the ADA, you should take these complaints to heart and be better, not bring down the business that complained. Absolutely disgusting."
"As a recent teansplant to the area i am beyond shocked and disgusted by the actions of the Downtown Albany Association. Instead of coming together and strengthening our community this buisness continued to employ someone who went on a harrassment campaign against a small downtown buisness. No one should conduct buisness this way or be associated with a person who has done this. Their actions caused irreparable damage to the local community."
"The downtown association is to be operating a local event in the parking lot used by five tenants and six different businesses, kicking all of the vehicles owned by such residents and employees out to street parking. Granted they may be permitting them to use passes to avoid ticketing, some people are less fortunate, health-wise, than others and the extra walk from wherever there may be spaces available is an unnecessary added stress to daily operations (such as hauling groceries or items necessary for work). Threatening to ticket the tenants or employees of the buildings, or doing so in a broader sense by calling the local parkwise officers down to ticket a tenant in their place of living, is downright absurd. Regardless of if the building owner allowed it himself, there was less than a days notice to vacate the allotted premises. Not to mention the noise and influx of people that shall be within a glance of the entryway and peace of those that reside there. I am, personally, disappointed in this lack of communication or care, and feel for all those to be affected by lackluster planning of the council. Do better, there is no future in Albany if there is no care for those living here."
