About the Business

OSU Child Development Center

The OSU Child Development Center, located at 114 Bates Hall in Corvallis, Oregon, is dedicated to providing a high-quality preschool program for both Head Start and tuition-paying families in the community. Our goal is to help children explore and learn about the world around them through purposeful and developmentally appropriate play, allowing them to develop important skills for future learning.

Our center features three bright and accessible classrooms, each equipped with an observation room where parents can watch their child engage in activities and play. Children also have the opportunity to spend time in a fenced and supervised outdoor play yard for fun and stimulating outdoor activities.

We welcome children with special developmental needs, support those who are learning English, and involve families with very low incomes through our Oregon Head Start Prekindergarten Program. Everyone is welcome at our center!

Head Start is a program under the United States Department of Health and Human Services that offers comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families.

Thanks to the support of parents, preschoolers, OSU students, and staff, the OSU Child Development Center was able to remain open and provide in-person services during an unprecedented year. We believe that all children deserve the best start in life, and at our center, they are receiving just that.

"My child was put in Kikis classroom, I told the coordinator my son's toe got stubbed in his room by the door due to his bed being right next to my room door, he plays with his toys there also. Yesterday was sent an email with an incident report talking about his toe which that happened at home and that he had a bruise on his hand which he does not have any bruises on his whole body period. I also communicated about receiving daily notes on how class has been for my son, never received one. I have plenty of friends and non friends who will vouch for me how well I care for my children. It's a shame how people treat someone because they are a low income family. The bullying is not acceptable in my book at all. My son is a very smart child and it makes me sad that some adults take things out on a child or a parent for their lack of knowledge and understanding!"
