Trader Joe's

"Trader Joe's isn't quite a full grocery store, and the lean really heavily into having pre-prepared meals from around the world. It's nice if you're looking for convenience food. The quality of the food is decent - maybe better than similar stuff from other stores in the area. We end up getting a lot of convenience items here that we wouldn't get other places like frozen meals. Their selection is pretty limited, but eclectic. You can find a little bit of food choices from a lot of different regions of the world - a lot of them actually seem to be produced in other countries - like several of their frozen pizzas or pasta items legitimately come from Italy - not sure if this is a good thing as it seems kind of wasteful to source, produce and ship frozen food in Italy. I have no idea how much it costs to ship frozen pizzas internationally. Again, seems like a waste of resources and fuel, but oh well, they taste pretty good. They have a great selection of niche snacky foods that our family enjoys, and most of their prices are as good or better than stores like Safeway or Fred Meyer, but not quite as good as WinCo. We tend to go there when we need a quick easy meal, or something to bring to a party that won't require a ton of prep. It's not the best place to do your regular shopping at because you absolutely will spend a bunch of money on junk food that looked good on the shelf, but doesn't exactly provide you with much nutritional value. Their staff is usually very friendly, and most of the time very helpful, the store is always clean, but a little dimly lit for my taste - sometimes hard to see the produce, which, for the most part I don't recommend getting there anyway as its usually not the freshest. This location has probably the best parking lot of any Trader Joe's I've been to - used to frequent the Eugene store a few years back when we lived in the area, and it was always a nightmare getting in and out."

"Trader Joe's always has interesting food items that other grocery stores don't carry. Their frozen food isle especially has great selections. I like the Guiltless Macaroni and cheese, the apple blossom deserts, and their ice cream brand is hands down the best ice cream ever. Check out the other isles for great fresh produce, delicious packaged heat and eat dinners, good selection of wine and beer and dairy and cheeses. Overall, their prices are much lower than most other stores. I highly recommend TJs."

"I am a regular at this store and spend hundreds every month. You can see me there every week. Every time, customer service is absolutely the best. I love fast checkouts, a proper beginning, and always encounter friendly and talkative cashiers. However, today my experience at the checkout was absolutely the worst just a moment ago. The girl with hot pink hair had no idea how to interact at the register. I brought my own bag and told her the extras would be in paper bags. Another cashier came up and started helping her. She asked if I wanted to place most of it in my bag, and I said I live on the 3rd floor as long as it’s not too heavy, yes. To make it worse, they didn’t even ask me if I wanted my grapefruit and other things put in the bag; they just left them in the cart. When I asked for another bag because I live on the 3rd floor, she got into my face and said the bags I need to pay for! I was shocked! Are you serious? That wasn’t the point, nor a problem! I just needed a proper beginning."

"I love Trader Joe's! I consistently enjoy great prices on quality items along with smiling, knowledgeable service. The labeling is excellent in helping me find gluten free, vegan items. This Thanksgiving their new vegan heavy whipping cream alternative was a game changer... and no one even knew the scalloped yams were dairy free!"

"Good place to buy food. Usually stores that sell more organic and “health foods” are expensive but Trader Joe’s prices are pretty good. The staff are friendly and the store is clean. They have really good fresh pizza dough. If you need flowers and a card they have that too. I will continue to shop here."
