"Home depot has a lot of product but their customer service is not very good. If you know what you want and the location then you're good. If you have a question then you might as well get comfortable because you're going to be there for awhile."

"Home Depot in its entirety, is fairly decent overall and meets and/or exceeds all expectations. Home Depot is a convenience store for contractors. Nothing more, nothing less. The selection of available tools and materials is sufficient. The brands they carry are trusted and reputable in the industry. Home Depot stands behind them and how well they perform. Never had any issues when exchanging defective items. The couple of occasions I was unsatisfied with the items I purchased there was absolutely no hesitation accepting my returns and no hoops to jump through to have the cost of the returned items promptly refunded in full. Customer service is almost always exceptional and never really been less than satisfactory. To me they get three of three stars. To achieve anything beyond three would at the very minimum require two things. First, staff would need to be much more knowledgeable of the trade specific tools and materials including intended application, current industry standards as a whole and how it relates to their assigned department, acceptable installation methods including knowledge of requirements for proper material installation. For example if buying paper to cover the exterior of a structure or dwelling they have the knowledge to know if you are just gonna need staples or if caps are required too, if you are gonna need tape for the seams or not and what other materials are required and of those which are the most compatible with each other. To meet expectations of that caliber would really put Home D' far above all the "big box" competition. It would elevate them into a different class and be closer to what the experience is like when shopping at a lumber yard/ building supply store. The good ol' Home D' shouldn't be held to such high expectations as you will always be disappointed when they fail to meet them. It is not a lumber yard. It is not a contractor.aupplt or building supply store. Previous experience and/or any kind of knowledge of the industry or the trades is not a prerequisite for employment. The employees are always more than helpful when it comes to finding the products or materials I need. With just a few swipes of the palm pilot they can tell me if it's available in store and how many they have. If they have less than I need, the employees quickly and efficiently locate the remaining quantity, call to verify it's the correct item/s and the right amount, before securing it for my purchase. Regardless if I choose to pick up from that store or from another one of the locations at that time or on a future date, or if I choose to have them deliver, they are always highly accommodating every time, scheduling based on what is most convenient for me. The same rule applies to all "big box" home improvement stores as is applied to auto parts stores. When you go to an auto parts store, you need to know what parts you need to buy and how many. They are great at providing products, the employees may be great at locating and securing what you need, they are not mechanics. Home improvement stores employees are no different. Don't expect them to be knowledgeable when it comes to construction/building or anything related to the trades, building codes, permits, or inspections. Don't expect them to know anything about the materials the store carries, especially when it comes to the purpose of material, manufacture approved installation methods, and/or suitable and acceptable alternatives on the very rare occasion they don't carry or can't find what it is you need. Don't ask the employees for their advice or opinion as it relates to your project, they are not qualified nor do they have knowledge or experience to advise you appropriately and the majority of the employees will say so themselves. Now if they do try to advise you or give their opinion on how things should be done and what materials you should use, just politely nod and smile and disregard what they may tell you. They sell the material and the tools, they are not carpenters, plumbers, electricians ECT."

"People there seem nice and helpful, but on my way there I called to check availability of the one thing I wanted there, and my call got transfered and it rang and then call dropped. This happened twice. I have no clue what that's about but it's frustrating. And then I get there and spend 10 minutes in there just to find out the damn registers don't have tap to pay. My wallet got stolen and I use my phone to buy things at the moment. UPDATE YOUR SYSTEMS ITS NOT THAT HARD."

"Each Home Depot has its own personality due in large part by it's employees. I find everyone here at this location to be helpful and cheerful. I was surprised that I was approached and asked if I needed any help and taken to what I was struggling to find. Maybe it's my handsome looks but whatever it was my visits have always been met with friendly and helpful people."
