"Was on my way home from the south OR coast and decided to stop about halfway home and finish the trip the following day. The room was small, but all I needed. En suite bath was a nice bonus. Had dinner in the Sand Trap pub and was very happy with my meal. Will definitely consider staying here again!"

"Although the staff was great the hotel itself leaved a lot to be desired. First off the room was pretty small no fridge, no microwave, no coffee pot. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable for $200 a night I expect a lot more. I've stayed at more comfortable hotels that were less than half the cost. I would not recommend this hotel for anybody that is looking for a comfortable trip."

"We always have a great time getting away from everything to recharge in Gearhart. The McMenamins Sand Trap is a great place to stay with family and friends. It's a lot less commercial than other parts of the Oregon Coast and a lot more mellow. McMenamins always finds a way to make their hotels charming, memorable and fun."

"We didnt stay at the hotel but we plan on booking a room next spring. We had a cocktail in the bar then walked the grounds at night. Cozied around the fire pits and chatted with guests. Then got to search for the secret room. It was a fabulous experience!"

"McMenamins in Gearhart was a pleasant surprise on the Oregon Coast. While neither of us golf, the hotel was quaint, modernized, clean, and the staff was exemplary. This started with the hostess at the desk whose name escapes us but she had links to Hawaii. This continued down in the bar where Carson treated us like we were the only customers, walked me through a flight of distilled spirits with a beer chaser, and served us a delicious dinner including a Hawaiian poke bento bowl for me, clam chowder in a bread bowl for my wife, and delicious soft pretzels. The following morning, Dawson served us a very tasty breakfast with the best fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice we have ever had. Moreover, he seated us in a private corner of the restaurant even though it meant he had to walk farther to serve us which he did with a smile."
