About the Business

Shenandoah Heritage Village

Located at 100 Cave Hill Road in Luray, Virginia, the Shenandoah Heritage Village is a museum that offers a unique experience for visitors. This seven-acre re-creation of a 19th century farming community includes restored historic buildings, cottage style gardens, and a small vineyard with stunning mountain views in the background.

The historical buildings and grounds are open every day from 10am until dusk, weather permitting. These endangered buildings have been relocated and restored to transport visitors back to life in Shenandoah in the 1800s.

As you explore the village, you will encounter gardens filled with rare heirloom plants, fruit trees, and a small vineyard. The Stonyman Mining Company Gem Sluice provides an interactive experience on pioneer prospecting for gold and gems, with gem bags available for purchase in the Museum Gift Shop.

The Heartpine Café offers delicious lunches, refreshing drinks, and regional wines, beer, and hard ciders that complement the beautiful views. The gift shop offers a variety of books, handmade pottery, and other keepsakes for a memorable trip.

Groups are welcome with advance notice, and packages can include access to the Gem Sluice, Garden Maze, and Rope Adventure Park. Visit the Shenandoah Heritage Village for a step back in time and a truly unforgettable experience.

"We visited from Michigan over New Years weekend. We loved this little village and all the history we learned walking through it. Very neat!!"

"A great historical place to visit in luray. It's a very small village holding historical buildings. After visiting luray caverns, we visited this place. Since we went there on weekdays, the place was less crowded. We enjoyed our visit!"

"Highly enjoyable and educational museum. Display area introduces artifacts and stories of famous figures and events. Period-style structures outfitted with furnishings provide evocative glimpses into those times."

"I visited this place with my Cavens entry ticket. This village resembles 18th century American culture and displays heritage items like clothes, arms, steam stoves and a little stroll outside. Kind of historical tour."

"I visited this place as it was included in my Caverns Ticket. This village is a replica of 18th century Valley culture. Museum still holds the things from the 18th Century as clothes, arms, day today things etc. One of the attractions is Gems Mining for which you will get Sandbags in the Museum Store. Don't forget to visit Blacksmith and cook in the kitchen. They recently started cooking in the kitchen. Besides, there's really nothing to see. But still as its a part of Caverns ticket, don't miss this spot."
