MacDonell House, Victorian Mansion

"This place is actually very cool, particularly if you have an opportunity to take a full guided tour. Every room has a story and the craftsmanship that went into each is superb. During the Christmas holidays, they put up a decorated tree in almost every room. Full Disclosure: my BSA Scout troop actually helps with moving the trees to and from storage, so I get to see the house in the off-season twice a year. Catching this place when it is open can be difficult as the hours change throughout the year - see the Allen County Museum website for more details. The hours somewhat line up with the normal museum hours, but, unlike the museum, the MacDonnell House is CLOSED between January 1st through April 1st. Plan your trip accordingly and when in doubt, call ahead! I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Victorian architecture or even just want to see the woodwork. I've taken the tour a couple of times and enjoyed it every time."

"DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. The website said that this was the same hours as the county Museum Well the county Museum said it opened at 11:00 and their website and when we got there, there was a sign on the door that said they didn't open till 1:00 so didn't get to see the museum or this house. Total waste of her time and gas money we drove an hour out of our way to see this."
