About the Business
Marina Dunes Preserve is a beautiful park and tourist attraction located at 3325 Dunes Drive in Marina, California, United States. The coastal dunes along the south Monterey Bay create a unique and constantly changing landscape that is home to a diverse array of plant and animal species. The park district is working to restore and protect the native vegetation in order to stabilize the dunes and enhance wildlife habitat.
The preserve was once an abandoned sand mining site, but has since been transformed into a public access area for visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the Monterey Bay seashore. Visitors are encouraged to stay on designated trails, respect restoration efforts, and help preserve the delicate ecosystem of the dunes.
Access to Marina Dunes is limited to daylight hours, and pets must be kept on a leash. Fires, smoking, hunting, fishing, and weapons are not allowed in the preserve. Visitors are asked to pack out all trash and respect private property boundaries.
The recent discovery of a Western Snowy Plover egg at the preserve highlights the importance of conservation efforts in protecting the local wildlife. The Marina Peninsula Regional Park District is dedicated to providing accessible facilities and communication channels for all visitors, and regularly updates its website to ensure compliance with accessibility guidelines.
Overall, Marina Dunes Preserve offers a peaceful and scenic retreat for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of the Monterey Bay area.
Reviews
"One of my go-to spot when I want to take my dog to the beach."
"Such a hidden pristine coastal with so many wild flowers. On clear day, the beach becomes even more beautiful."
"Beautiful camp grounds! Really close to beach. It is right off of Hwy 1. You can hear the traffic but you forget about it and don't even notice it after a while. Occasionally get the super loud cars, motorcycle or big rig. Tight fit to park. Camp sites are a little snug but will be back for sure!"
"We recommend this over the Marina State park that is close by. There is a 500 yard trek to the beach but you'll pass amazing sand dunes in various state of recovery, and then miles and miles of clean beach! You can really spread out (great during this Covid time), and walk or swim or just catch a lot of zzzzzs. There is no restrooms or much shade, so come prepared and bring an umbrella. This part of monterrey is cool. On the day we came it was 103 in Silicon Valley and 64 here."
