About the Business
The Shotokan Karate Academy of Napa, located at 1155 Jordan Lane, Napa, California, is a health institution dedicated to the practice of Shotokan Karate. As a registered club of the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF) Pacific Northwest Region, our philosophy is to train the body to be strong, and the mind and spirit to be patient, in order to become the best human beings we can be. Led by Sensei April Farnham-Morrison and Senpai Ari Encarnacion, our instructors are experienced in the art of Shotokan and provide instruction to both youth and adults.
Our classes take place in the Lotus Room at the Napa Valley Yoga Center, a facility designed for safe and comfortable martial arts practice. We offer classes for all levels of karate students, focusing on kihon, kata, and kumite techniques. From beginner to advanced levels, our group instruction is tailored to meet the needs of each student.
We offer classes for adults and teens, as well as youth ages 7-12, with special consideration for younger ages on a case-by-case basis. A gi uniform is required after the first class, and can be purchased from the dojo or independently. Monthly memberships are available with unlimited access to classes for a flat fee.
All members must sign a Waiver of Responsibility, including a "COVID-19 Waiver Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability". Students of Sempai April's Dojo must apply for membership into the ISKF through a registered club, which our dojo can assist with.
