"San Marcos Pop Warner Jr. Pee Wee 2017 We were warned not to join San Marcos Pop Warner because it's known daddy ball. We decided to roll against the odds.. Pros: Conditioning for the season. Cons: Coach will tell you "this is a new season and I'm not that type of coach you heard of before and your child will get a overall great experience". Wrong. Daddy ball warning (prior to season) coming true... Prior to signing up you must understand the minimum play requirement for each player. In this particular case, we did not. Our child ended up on a team close to a max roster with a core group of "older lighter" kids. It means that this group of 9-11 kids should be one level up but there's exceptions to the rule because of there light weight. When on a max roster (or close to) the minimum play requirement goes from 11 plays down to 6. This is very unfortunate for developing children (especially in this case). I understand that we're talking about volunteer coaches but the bottom line is you pay pretty good money and its a hell of a commitment throughout the season (4 days a week) for such little return (game time). We have a coaching staff of 9 and each one of those coaches have a child playing a key position and getting most of the playing time in the real game. More and more it seems that each practice has a heavy emphasis on a core group of kids getting most of the formation run through. The head coach needs to take responsibility for this. From what I've gathered thus far is I cannot recommend San Marcos Pop Warner unless you are part of the: 1. Board 2. Coaching staff 3. Team staff The children for this listed group will always be the priority of your child. Make no mistake, no matter how much potential your child shows. I will save any additional information for some responses that I may receive."
