"I wanted to give a local business a chance rather than going to Home Depot. I wanted to build a bookcase. The guy at Hayward told me this was the wrong place for that kind of lumber. They just have Douglas Fir. And not in sizes suitable for bookcases. He said I would have to look downtown for hardwood. Seems a bit odd for a place with "Lumber" in their name to only sell one kind of wood? And it turned out that Channel City Hardware a few blocks away in Goleta does indeed sell a variety of lumber suitable for bookcases. Maybe this place treats you OK if you are a major construction company. But they clearly are not interested in locals who are trying to do their own projects."
