"As a person living in Seattle, and formerly Berkeley, I've had plenty of great opportunities to enjoy good Thai food. But when I come to Ashland, Sawaddee is up there among my favorite places to visit. Not only is the food wonderful, but the service is friendly and wholesome. The owner tends tables herself, much of the staff is family. Sitting at a table in her restaurant, the experience is more like visiting a friend whose family is cooking, and serving you as a guest. I appreciate great service at a fancy restaurant, but this is just more ... wholesome? somehow. Anyway, back to the food - it's amazing. Don't be scared of having sushi in a Thai restaurant, or Thai food in a sushi restaurant. Both are excellent. My particular favorite appetizers are the Tom Kha soup, and the pork satay. For a main, everything I've had over several visits has been amazing - order what looks good to you, it WILL be good. One warning - if you're used to ordering spicy food, the spice level here has been backed down a notch. If you normally order medium hot in SF, ask for spicy hot here. And if you learned to eat hot food in Thailand or India (etc), let the staff know so they'll jazz things up for you."

"This was the PERFECT meal. We’re staying in town 2 nights and searched the web for good reviews. Sawaddee is highly rated and for good reason. Food, service and atmosphere are all phenomenal. We cook a lot at home-including drunken noodles-so we have high expectations. They were certainly met, as we shared drunken noodles and Mongolian beef that were both exceptional. Tasty miso soup too! Moreover, the staff & owners are friendly and welcoming. Choose this place for your meal!"

"Best food I've found in Ashland by far! Friendly, accommodating, clean & open kitchen, fish tank & good aesthetics (beautiful pictures on the wall including of spices). The restrooms are clean &serene. Sushi options too! I was pleasantly surprised the wasabi was unusually good. Opted for the spicy edamame which wasn't a challenge, rather unique and flavorful! Menu is marked with GF & vegan options. Tom Kha & Yum were both excellent. If you're looking for healthy food with vegan or meat options, this is the place. Varied drink options including a list of sakes (at least one was organic) Thai tea & coffee (can sub coco milk). Really healthy, flavorful food that I am grateful to know of for future visits "
