"Only hardware store in the bay area that doesn't allow dogs, which I could live with (though I always walked when I still shopped at Pastime). But I can't live with the incredibly obnoxious and rude manager (with English or Irish accent), the poor customer service (sold the wrong part by some guy that acted like he knew all about what I needed), the demand to "TAKE A NUMBER!" in response to even the briefest inquiry about location of an item, and incorrect price quotes on the phone for something they 1) didn't even have in stock (after employee claimed to have checked price on shelf); and 2) was not even the correct price for the wrong item the employee claimed to have checked. I mean, wow, how could you be that wrong? After witnessing the manager yell at customers, and then getting yelled at as well, I don't really get all the positive reviews. However, I do suspect that being older, white, and male are all factors that play into the positive reviews. Oh yeah, and those hours are ridiculous. Closed on Sunday? I get it's an old timey hardware store, but this takes it to a whole different, and ridiculously unreasonable, level. We ain't all christians!"
