"Here is what I think of when I think of mid century modern decorated luxury! It’s at the Thompson by Hyatt Gold Coast Chicago. Perched north of downtown Chicago, the Thompson has 247 designed hotel rooms! The suites have stunning views of the vibrant Gold Coast and Lake Michigan. Yes please to rainfall showers, and add to the midcentury modern vibe with the furnishings. I love this spot because it’s close to everything….Magnificent Mile, Oak Street's boutiques, and Lake Michigan."

"I stayed here while on a work trip and met others who were on work trips and visiting for conventions. The hotel is located in a convenient area. Uber and Lyft rides were relatively quick to pick up from here. The rooms and common areas are well-maintained by the staff. Doormen, reception staff, bartenders and servers were all kind, helpful and personable. The lobby is spacious with several areas to sit, wait or hang out. I visited in the middle of winter and the heat was set at a comfortable temperature in the lobby. The bar and lounge area at the rear of the lobby, was cozy and private. Food from the restaurant on-site was delicious as well. Overall, great experience at this hotel."

"Well, the photos are really nice! We booked this hotel specifically for the bar, which we found out was closed for renovations when we arrived. The restaurants were closed too. I wish we knew this prior because we wouldn’t have booked there. The location is great. The staff was nice and helpful. Our room was decent but the couch had some stains and it looked like it was under construction in some parts, like the bathroom door/ trim. We also had to leave a night early due to an emergency (death in the family), they chose not to reimburse us- which is their policy and right - but still, give us a break. Not sure we’d return."
