About the Business

Major Ripley Arnold Statue

The Major Ripley Arnold Statue & John V. McMillan Plaza is a historical park and tourist attraction located at 489 North Taylor Street in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. Established in 2014, the plaza honors two important figures in Fort Worth's history. The centerpiece of the plaza is a 12-foot-tall bronze statue of the City's founder, Major Ripley Arnold, created by sculptor Archie St. Clair. The statue was generously donated to the Tarrant Regional Water District by the Anfin family in honor of their late father, John V. McMillan.

McMillan Plaza is located near the original site of the fort, behind TCC Trinity River campus at the confluence of the Clear Fork and West Fork of the Trinity River. Major Ripley Arnold, the founder of Fort Worth, established a post on the banks of the Trinity River in 1849, which later became known as Fort Worth. John V. McMillan, a successful businessman and civic leader, was also honored for his contributions to the community.

Visitors can learn about the history of Fort Worth and the significant role Major Ripley Arnold and John V. McMillan played in shaping the city. The plaza offers a peaceful and educational experience for all who visit.

"This is quite a nice place to go running around or walking with friends and family. I usually go biking on the trails when good weather."

"Great view. Traffic can be tough. Big downhill to entrance. Can be a little sketchy. Next to downtown and college"

"We need to add more History of the Native Americans. It’s fine how it is but if I could choose as to what history my kids and grandchildren would learn, it would 100% be about The Native tribes who were here for Thousands of years before the settlers came."
