"I do not recommend this Academy. Save yourself from a bad experience and go to the Sugarland location instead. The shift manager here doesn't know her stores own return policy. She refused to help, refused to listen to me, was very rude. I purchased a punching bag as a Christmas gift, went to return it since it was not the one the recipient wanted. Store manager, Jacobi (I believe her name was) insisted item could not be returned because the box was open (despite my having re-sealed it). Their return policy did not indicate it couldn't be open. In fact, she let me return the boxing gloves which had been opened but not the punching bag. Didn't make any sense. Bad attitude and argumentative. Refused to help me and asked me to step aside. I called the Sugarland store and they said they accept returns even if item is opened. Went there, got my refund without issue or attitude."

"I was purchasing a super combo hunting and fishing license today, the cashier got me the wrong license, luckily I found that at parking lot. Then they spent half an hour to fix the mistake, unfortunately they missed adding duck stamp and public hunting license this time. So I have to return again and have them fix it again. They wasted my afternoon. Then after I emailed them, they called me to apologize."

"Kendyn Edward’s in Shoe Department is Avery thorough Gentleman and has patience. I have bad knee. He was very patient and understanding. He took time to help me to decide what is best shoes for me. I highly recommend this store and Mr Kendyn Edwards at Academy At West Loop location next to Lowe’s."

"I'm a fan of Academy. I REALLY enjoy this location. The store is always clean and well stocked. Service is prompt. The only thing that could be better is online inventory matching what's in store. Sometimes I want to shop online and pick up in store, but there are products that I know are on the shelf and they are nowhere to be found online. Larry, the manager at the Meyerland Store, just cost 2 stars because 1) he would not price match Scheels for items that are not excluded and 2) he didn't even bother to speak to me. Instead he continued to relay messages through the radio headset. I"

"I still miss my beloved Hobby Lobby that used to be at this location. 2 stars given for store cleanliness and sale prices. However, the older white guy that worked in the Gun/ammo section was not helpful or friendly. He acted as though I was bothering him when I asked questions regarding appropriate ammo for my glock. The store was very warm; it felt like the air conditioning was turned off. Highly doubt I'll return."
