"Even if you call and they tell you they have avaliability, take it with a grain of salt. I applied for an apartment after being told multiple times they had spots avaliable, but nearly two months went by after being assured I would have a chance, only for them to take my money ($75 to be exact) and ghost me. Would not reccomend applying here unless you're 100% sure you'll get a spot, don't make the same mistake I did."
"residents are supposed to be able to use the amenities in the leasing office 24/7 which I’m sure is included in what I’m paying for on my lease, but the office refuses to fix my key that allows me into the leasing office and blames it on a system issue that has not been fixed in the past few months that I’ve been living here. even though apparently most of the other residents keys work just fine. apartments are also very dirty and ac goes out every two weeks. not to mention the bugs. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!! I would give it 0 stars if I could"
"Second review as an update. My daughter called the corporate customer service line and they notified Uptown. She spoke with Fermin Pina from Uptown who listened to her situation and concerns. She said she would speak to the manager and call her back which she did not. Instead she sent an email the next day in which she stated the manager refused to reverse the charges and provided pictures upon move out. They charged approximately $60 (this was just her portion so x3) to empty out a cabinet and a few things in the refrigerator which belonged to her roommate that moved out several days later. All of this was explained and the staff in the front office assured us that it was not her responsibility as the roommate was the last to leave. My daughter was not even in the state upon the roommate moving out. We made sure to follow all instructions given to us by the front desk staff and we repeatedly assured. This roommate was also reported on earlier in the year for smoking pot in the apartment which is not only illegal, but breaking the lease in addition to my daughter having asthma. The manager was not there when she went to report it and her email to them was never returned. They also charged $660 EXTRA in November which they did not return until move out and deducted these fees from. There is absolutely no resolution whatsoever. They could have at least refunded the cabinet cleaning fee which is obviously not my daughter's fault. They are taking advantage of college students and the fact that there was a credit in her account!"
"My daughter recently moved out of Uptown. We discovered that they over charged her rent back in November by $660. When she moved out, one of her roommates was still living there. She went to the front office and they told her to take pictures of her room and of her turning in her key. She was told that is was the last roommate's responsibility to make sure the common area was clean. We cleaned it the best we could with all of her things still there. She finally gets a check in the mail and several cleaning fees for the common areas were deducted as well as a $150 painting fee. We were explicitly told that they always paint the units in between tenants. After all the fees, then then returned the security deposit which makes no sense whatsoever. They kept approximately $200 that they overcharged her back in November. I spent HOURS cleaning the apartment upon move in because it was SO filthy including mold covering the inside of the dishwasher. She also complained about her roommate smoking pot inside the apartment (she has asthma) and nothing was done about it. They are ripping off college students!"
"I have lived here for 2 years. First starters, the staff and maintenance crew are probably the nicest team out of all student apartments in the area. Very respectful and attentive. If my rating was solely based on their help, it would be 5 stars. Unfortunately the apartment has some major flaws. The office amenities are great and come in handy, and i never really experienced wifi failure either at the apartment. The drawbacks are the usuaI apartment problems. Super thin walls and floors, especially if youre in the outter units. You will hear the highway and cars speeding infront of the hospital every single night and it feels like you have bigfoot as your upstairs neighbor. The AC will fail you in the warmer months, the pool will remain closed for the majority of fall and spring semester, and late summer. The second apartment I moved into retained a humid smell throughout the year, the refrigerator didn't work properly, and furniture was heavily worn out. Keep in mind when you sign up for the lease, you're also giving permission for the staff to come into your apartment without a notice to hand off direct notice mail to you or your roommates. And keep in mind there's an additional $200 transfer fee if you switch floor layouts in between leases. I loved living here overall and would've stayed a 3rd year if needed but fortunately that wasn't the case."
