"This apartment complex is old and outdated, but fairly clean. It is a family run property. I signed a 6 month lease in Nov 18’. The rent was reasonable but in retrospect, it should’ve been less expensive. The carpet had to be at least 30 yrs old. I asked if there were plans to change it and the response was, “You saw the carpet when you moved in.” I was provided with a long list of foods that should not be put down the garbage disposal. The list made the garbage disposal useless. The disposal in my apartment stopped working after 2 weeks of moving into the place. I informed management and the response was, “You don’t need one anyway, do you?” I laughed and replied, “Nah.” “Good. We’ll have it taken out.” It was never taken out so I poured bleach and Pine Sol down it every week to curtail the odor. The heating system was a radiator style. It was all or nothing, (freezing or burning up), and the temperature outside had to be below 60 degrees for management to turn on the boiler so there would be heat in the apartments. You can imagine how many days I stayed fully dressed and wore a coat inside. Also, the air conditioner was an old window unit for the entire apartment. It would not come on unless it was 75 degrees outside. There were several days that I was warmer than I wanted to be because the air conditioning did not think it was warm enough outside. There was a windstorm one night and around 1 AM, my bedroom window was blown off its tracks by the wind and onto my bed. That just about gave me a heart attack. Maintenance did come the next afternoon to re-install the window but cracked the window in the process. That window was never replaced. At the end of my 6 month lease, I put in my 30 day vacating notice. I was reminded of the $25 move out inspection fee. I moved out, cleaned and scrubbed and left the apartment cleaner than when I moved in. The only thing I didn’t do was fill in the holes from the curtains I hung, (that reminds me about the blinds; they were brittle and fell apart when you touched them), i advised management that i would go grab some sparkling and management said not to worry about the holes. The move in deposit was $350. I was charged $75 for the little holes above the windows and $100 for a “light clean”. So $175 of my $350 was returned, and it was returned in the form of a handwritten check even though I had to have a cashier’s check or money order. I am sorely disappointed and extremely angry with the owners of this dump but I will not call them on this. They obviously need the money more than me and I wholeheartedly believe you reap what you sow. They have a lot of reaping to do. I do not recommend this property to anyone!"
