"The ambience of this hotel is unremarkable. The lobby was more like a cozy living room, then the usual impersonal hotel lobbies. We arrived by Amtrak and was able to just cross the street to be at the hotel. Staff was helpful and congenial. Always more then eager to help. Coffee and breakfast bars available each morning. Great coffee. Was able to explore Alpine without a car from the Holland. Cannot wait to return."
"This is a proper building. It's not like the flimsy new hotels. Even in the nice ones, everything feels cheap. You don't hear your footsteps echoing on cheap floors, and the walls are proper walls, not thin sheets of drywall. We got a room late by the internet. Check in was easy, and in spite of the late hour, our room was squared away, with a light on, the climate control set comfortably."
"The Holland Hotel is wonderfully charming slice of the past in a fantastic location. We stayed on the 4th floor and it was a lovely room with great views of Alpine. As others have written, it's not a modern Marriott or swanky Holiday Inn, but it more than makes up for any dated amenities with charm. Despite the age, the room we were in was comfortable and well appointed."
