Big Texan Horse Hotel

"They fit us in a moments notice. The stalls were big and clean. The accompanying hotel was adequate nothing to complain about."

"Very stingy with the soaps they give. I'm glad I brought some, and the water almost sprayed my skin off until I realized you don't pull the handle all the way. There's a lot of lighting coming in from the wooden shutters as well, not to mention the house cleaner tried opening our door at 9 am we had the security lock on thankfully. Then she came back again and asked if we're leaving tomorrow, my husband haad already told her we're leaving at noon. Also three flies in the room! Also they had an envelope that was there for tips for the cleaner? My husband and I rested well though:)"

"Cons: The stalls were disgusting, seemed to be packed mud and some parts were wet :(, so we kept our horses outside in the long runs. Unfortunately, there was no shade, no trees or pole barn. We came in late in the afternoon and left early in the morning, so that wasn’t too much of a problem for us. Hotel guests were wandering around in the barn. There was a working padlock, but people were unloading their horses, so it was not locked. The runs in the back are a long way to haul your feed and water. I wouldn’t get those. Prices stated were $25 a night but we ended up paying $71 for two horses. Not sure how that happened. Pros: location was great - right off of interstate 40. There was also the restaurant and hotel on site and a couple of newer hotels very close by, trailer parking was available. A lot can be done to improve this place. Probably would not stay here again."

"Really a disappointment! Stalls were not clean. The water hose did not reach the outdoor stalls. The padlock to get in to the horse area was broken so anyone could walk in. And there was no place to empty trailer shavings and manure. Do they really expect people traveling across country to let their horses stand in manure? The one star is for the gal at the desk who tried to help but hadn't been trained enough to fix the issues."

"Pros: area fully enclosed by perimeter fence, good backup security should horses escape stalls or turnouts. Plenty of room for trailer parking right beside of barn. Very easy access off I-40. Had more stalls and turnouts then several other horse hotels we checked with in Amarillo Staff was accommodating to our late check-in Cons: a few of the stalls we reserved had not yet been cleaned upon our arrival. Some of the stalls had sides broken out and needed to be replaced. Walls between horses were bars vs being solid, that can sometimes be a big problem Overall: it's nothing fancy but, it'll do and I would be okay to overnight there on the next trip. Each stall had it's own hay/feed manger Horse owner provide water buckets/hangers. Not sure about the outside pens"
