"Great, clean facility. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Best weight room in Plainview. Two full size basketball courts. Not crowded, even in the “rush hour” before work. But the hidden gems of the place are the 3 racquetball courts (there used to be 4, years ago when I first joined.) These are the ONLY racquetball courts in the 100+ mile stretch from Canyon to Lubbock, and we’re very grateful for them. We also see Wayland students enjoying the courts. Currently, the cost to build just one racquetball court ranges from $20,000 to $40,000. Unlike many other sports, racquetball requires dedicated courts for players to enjoy the sport. (Racquetball consistently ranks #1 as far as the best sport to build cardiovascular fitness, and in a fun way - aligning with the foundational goals of the YMCA.) The racquetball courts can also be used for other activities like volleyball, or enclosed volleyball practice (such as practice serving against the wall, without chasing the ball all day), and table tennis, again without having to chase the ball. Unfortunately, 2 of the courts have water damage and we’re anxious for them to be restored. Last Saturday some friends and I had to wait over 45 minutes for the only remaining court while it was being used. Again today when we were playing a match, someone had to wait over 30 minutes since there is only this single court available. On many evenings, the remaining court is occupied for hours, making it challenging to get any playing time until the other two courts are repaired. It would definitely help membership if players knew they could get on a court when they get there, or at least reserve one of the 3. Once these floors are fixed, I'd say it's a great facility with reasonable membership prices."

"Overpriced for kids sports. Management does not communicate with the coaches very well. Umpires they used for girls softball were horrible and management did nothing to fix the issue. New renovations needed as well as new Manager and Assistant Manager."

"This place sucks. Spend your money for sports anywhere else. Management is incompetent and had no clue what they are doing. They don't not communicate with parents or coaches and they abruptly change game times multiple times before games. Several instances of miscommunication leafing to multiple teams showing up to the same field at the same time and the solution is 4 teams can play each other at the same time on the same field. Also, for a nonprofit they are extraordinarily overpriced for all youth sports (120 for girls softball, 60 for tee ball, etc.). Just and awful place to be forced to use for kids sports."

"The people are very nice and always super friendly. The atmosphere is good but the facility is lacking upgrades across the board. The weight room is too small and archaic. If more than 12 people are lifting it’s over crowded. A new gym w/ a pool would virtually put this place out of business. The YMCA is not cheap so I’m not understanding why this place is behind the times. It needs to be be expanded dramatically with all new state of the art equipment. Plainview is a small town and I’m glad they have a few options. I just feel like they deserve more. Nothing against the people who work there or lift there. It’s just time. It’s a slow sinking ship in my opinion"

"My son and I played over at the park close by, and he went in for a dip. The lady at the check-in was nice, and my son said the pool felt good, which was super appreciated by us. I did find the facilities to be neglected with rusted screws outside the shower partition to the locker room, rust around the pool grates, and an uncoated metal piece on the pool deck ladder."
