Courtyard by Marriott Paducah

"Don’t let the Marriot on the sign fool you. Keep driving and find somewhere else to spend your money. If it wasn’t for the ridiculously poor interaction at check-in, I could’ve easily overlooked the other flaws…but, when your first impression is less than welcoming, it makes the rest 10x worse. Upon stepping foot in the front doors, I was next in line to be checked in by the employee at the front desk (his name started with a J…but the writing was so small on the name tag, I couldn’t make out the rest). When it was my turn, there was nothing more than a stare down to get me to move forward. Once at the desk there wasn’t a single word spoken to me. No “hi, hello, welcome to marriot, are you checking in?” NOTHING. So, I spoke first. “Hi, checking in!”…and I proceeded to hand him my ID. Still nothing said to me. There was some button pushing on the keyboard & then he proceeded to slap my ID down on the counter in front of me. I saw him grab an envelope with a room key & a pen…stil not a single word spoken to me. He continued to write down my room number on the envelope, slap it down on the counter and say “here ya go!”. I said “thank you!”….not a single word ever spoken back to me. So I grabbed my key card & walked out. When I walked back in with my family, he never even made eye contact or spoke to any of us that walked through the door. It was one of the WORST interactions I’ve ever had at a hotel, let alone a Marriot brand. To speak 3 single words to guest is completely unacceptable. The elevators looked as if they haven’t been cleaned in ages. Dirty walls, floors & doors. The room looked clean, but upon a closer inspection- there is very little “cleaning” happening in this place. When I went into the bathroom to take a shower, there was noticeable hair sticking to the bottom of my feet (it was not of a color or length of hair that matched anyone in my family). When I turned on the shower, I noticed 4-5 more pieces of short black hair scatter from the water, again…not hair that matches anyone in my family. The corners of the shower are all stained with a pink moldy build up. The worst part was the noticeably discolored wash cloth / hand towels. Both had an extremely orange hue in comparison to the white towels. How housekeeping felt those were okay to be placed for any guest to see is beyond me! The AC units sounded like a jet engine when they would kick on & then continued with an extremely loud rumbling hum while running. Lastly, my daughter slept on the couch bed & when placing the linens on the pull out sofa, the main blanket looked as if it hadn’t been washed in months. It smelled musty & felt like sandpaper. Thankfully, we traveled with our own blankets & decided not to use the one provided by the hotel. Again, normally I’d be able to move past the petty issues..but the check in process absolutely ruined my view of this hotel. The only saving grace was the rather comfortable bed & the less than 12 hour stay! Everything else was the biggest disappointment! How this place receives semi decent reviews is absolutely beyond me…please, do yourself a favor and find a different place to lay your head tonight! There’s so many others to choose from less than a mile down the road."

"The room is clean and large. I really like the modern decor. There are 2 working 110v outlets & 2 usb ports on the night stand, wall outlets next to a bed and next to the suitcase surface/top of drawers, and an 2 more usb ports along with another 110v outlet on the counter over the mini fridge. The main lobby area has these great booths separated by high walls for privacy and have a tv mounted at each booth. Ramon at the front desk is welcoming and so nice!"

"Courtyard by Marriott Paducah I checked in early am from a long day traveling. My status with Marriott is Life Time Titanium. My profile has my request including feather / down free. I asked if the room was feather free he said that’s what the system showed. I checked three of the pillows in the room and I was asleep till 6:30 - clearly suffering a bit of an allergy reaction to feather - for me even a small bit affects me. When I went down for breakfast I asked the front desk staff if they were full and the young lady said no. I asked why was I not upgraded as my Status designates. I was told that the upgrades aren’t guaranteed and she wasn’t there when I booked in so she wasn’t sure why. I thought this was not a good answer so I let her know that was a pretty weak excuse. Breakfast came out cold and I had it cooked longer -the staff was great. After breakfast I spoke to the young lady at the front desk. She apologized for her answer and we had a conversation about customer service. Seemed very nice. I was told that in her training she was trained not to upgrade points stays unless the customer requests it. ( that’s not how Marriotts external system lists the Rewards operation) I was further told that she was trained that the night stay on points was the reward ???? I have travel to every state staying at Marriotts I have never heard this prior. The building is newer , clean and well lit. Note: I went back to sleep for a late check out. There was no do not disturb sign on the door to display. Of course I was woken up with knocking on the door and an attempt to come in. At the very least mgt should have let them know I had a late check out and let me sleep."

"After 3 miserable nights in 2 different rude, noisey Fairfield Inns, we stopped here on our 7 day road trip. WOW, I feel like I have gone to Heaven. Beautiful property, well decorated, clean and well maintained. Super convenient to food, shopping as well. Curtis at the desk gives 200% !!! The Fairfield Inn wouldn't even offer a complimentary water for yrs of Bonvoy Loyalty . Curtis made us feel like we mattered. and like he appreciated our Marriott loyalty. He had great dining recommendations, super professional, just such an improvement and asset to the Marriott brand. Now, instead of being stressed and tired, we're actually relaxing in our lovely, quiet balcony room!! I HIGHLY recommend this property when you are going through Paducah. We look forward to returning to this nice property!! Nice touch with handwritten notes from housekeeping staff too!!"

"Wonderful view from my window of the park. Spacious and wonderful room. My only take a way is no complimentary breakfast. This should have been noted on the website. All it says is, Breakfast provided. The bistro is too expensive. No way I'm spending $14 on a Hamburger and $9.50 on a side of fries, not when there is a Burger King and McDonald's right down the street. You had alot of upset guests when they went down stairs to eat breakfast and there was not one. A whole ball team and chaperones had to load up everyone and check out earlier to get these kids some breakfast before their game which was an extra expense for them. Not good at all. Just note that Courtyard is the only Marriot chain that does not have complimentary breakfast. Just so you know for the future If you put a breakfast in, more people will come."
