"tl;dr: The same person who measures the kid's height; then says "oh our our height chart on the wall is wrong so I just write something down" is in charge of pediatric sedation. More details: I had some concerns about scheduling and wrote an email. When I didn't get a response, I called. Turns out the office staff printed the email and showed it to the dentist only right before my child's appointment. Then, they had the mask already on my daughter when the dentist came in and said "Are you ok? ..." What I thought could have been handled professionally by them with verbiage like, "We received your email. Thank you for communicating your concern. We are committed to good scheduling communication. We're sorry there was a problem. We'll try not to have it happen again. Thank you for coming in today!" .........turned into..........why are you asking me to restate the whole thing while you have an "oxygen and nitrous oxide" mask on my child? I had no concerns about the technical competency of the dentist until he wanted to have the conversation about scheduling concerns while standing over a child with an oxygen mask on. Once that was initiated, I asked what he was referring to. He asked if I was ok with him working on my child. I said I was here, had signed the form, and I would not have come in if I was concerned about his technical competency. He walked out. At that point, so did I . My email was reasonably stated and my (ofice staff conduct) concerns were not addressed before the mask was placed on my child. Even that's ok but wanting to discuss anything except the procedure while a child has a gas mask on is not best practice. At that point, I was uncomfortable with my child being sedated at that time and we walked out. As we left, I asked for my daughter's dental records. Turns out they are out of color toner, but will have some within a week. Please consider that dental sedation does carry some risk; it is best to have honest, focused staff administering office sedation when it is necessary."

"My 3 year old son ran into a dumpster and shattered 3 teeth, Midland Kid’s Dentist answered and said they are not accepting new patients. We stated our child is in excruciating pain and needed a dentist ASAP. They would not see him even when they were the only dentist open in the middle of an ice storm. Needless to say their priority is not the health of children!"
