Care to Change Counseling

"Unfortunately, we finally found someone who was helping here us but we couldn't afford it. They work with very few insurances and you have to pay upfront as well as do your own reimbursements with your insurance company. This was misrepresented (likely by accident) at the beginning, otherwise we wouldn't have begun therapy here. Our counselor, who left the practice not long after we began, was amazing."

"Thought about signing up. Once I read the terms of service I realized the place is a money grab. One of the first things they say is counseling will be a very big money commitment.They plan to keep you coming back. Then $150 for crisis calls or 15 minutes of writing an email. $35 added fee if you want a video appointment. Full $135 fee for cancellations. Plus various other fees and for all this money they do not even handle insurance it's all self pay and make you work for free to get reimbursed by insurance companies. Wording was also strongly discouraging writing any online reviews because they can't respond to it (obviously they do) then they tell you to tell them instead or complain to the government (seriously). I'm glad I read through everything first. I will not go here."

"Not willing to take responsibility for ruining my relationship with my mother. I had monthly sessions scheduled. I got told I needed to wait until my next appointment which was in 30 days after my therapist there completely shattered my relationship with my mom and shared personal information that I told her during a session while I was not there. My mom came into the car screaming and crying from the things I had told my therapist. I called the main office to speak to my therapist and was very urgent to fix the situation. They responded hours later and I got told to relax and wait until my next appointment where we could work through it. I haven’t been since."

"I went to one session and then had to cancel the following due to getting a new job. I rescheduled for my one day off that week and the night before my session my work informed me I had an important appointment with a customer and did not have the chance to cancel, the office of Care to Change calls and tells me I have to pay a cancelation fee. However, I was not informed they could charge me the FULL amount for their services. I understand paying %50 of the service if I missed a session.. not %100 which was $125.. especially during COVID! The office lady said it was in the paperwork I signed, that would have been nice to know and explained in person! Writing this review so no one else makes the same mistake. If you have a varying job schedule, this not the place to go for sure! It would have been nice to have a little understanding from the customer service/office worker given it was my first time missing a session."
