"For the past several months I had been trying to figure out what was wrong and why I was getting abdominal pain but I would keep getting disregarded at IU even spending hours in pain in the waiting room at the er. Finally this time my family made me leave IU and go to Hendricks and within less than an hour they found the problem and sent me for emergency surgery. With IU I was repeatedly dismissed as having inflammation or stress. The expense of inadequate health care was more expensive than the surgery I ended up having to get. I am officially done with IU as I am now with a quality provider that actually listens to patients and doesn’t discard them and best of all, doesn’t jump to the most expensive tests as a first course of treatment. A simple blood panel and ultrasound is all it took. Something IU never considered."

"My major issue with IU Hospital Avon is that they seem to frequently have their physicians take call for emergencies such as surgery, labor and delivery the same days they are scheduled to see patients in the office. I've taken off work twice in 3 weeks to see a physician for my what I fear could be a serious health condition only to wait in the waiting room for a long period of time to be told the physician got called to perform some time consuming procedure and that I would have to reschedule. Seems to be very disorganized and would make more sense that the on call physicians not be on call during the exact same hours they have patients scheduled to see in the office. 2 days without pay to see a doctor that they never even get to see can mean very different things for different people. I'm going to have to find a different provider where this isn't a constant issue."

"This place should be shut down. Not one staff member could even bother saying hello when I brought my 66 year old mother in who had fallen down some stairs. She has a huge gash over her eye and we were worried about further head injuries. After waiting well over an hour they took her back to take X-rays of her legs. Her legs are fine. After asking why she isn’t getting a head ct we were told that was the next stop and they didn’t know how long it would take to get her in. I’ve never been more upset with a hospital staff. We didn’t know if she had any brain bleeds, a cracked skull or internal bleeding anywhere else. That was our main concern! Needless to say we left and went to Hendricks regional and she was back for a ct immediately. Don’t waste your time with this place. They’d rather watch you die in the waiting room."

"If I could give 0 stars I would. I haven't been here in YEARS, I needed to go. I will say the wait is not bad at all BUT here's the thing. once I got into a room there was URINE from ANOTHER pt that was on my bed that I was being rolled around on!!!!!!!! the whole place is absolutely disgusting. The keyboards in the rooms were just covered what looked like mold!!!!!!!! and these people were touching the computer then touching me!! I had not noticed this until my husband brought it to my attention because I wasn't feeling well. they need to SANITZE everything down and do it daily and make sure they are following proper guidelines, having another patient's urine on my bed...... NASTY I took pictures of all this. when I was time to leave, I brought all of this to the nurse's attention and all she said was "oh my, I'm sorry" and that was all. I would not recommend going here for Care."
