"Floors are always dirty in the gym (juice stains too), gym equipment is ripped up and the oldest you can imagine, customer service is terrible, purchased a key fob for night access and it did not work so I was unable to use my membership for 3 months (went 2 times due to work schedule). I stopped by 3 times to fix the issue and no one on staff could help me. No managers, and the only person that handles key fobs works 3am to 7am. I left my phone number and email address but never got a response. Today I just confirmed that the person in charge of key fobs did get the message, but just chose not to contact me.. Now she is telling me I have to buy a new key fob.. even though I bought the old one through them. This YMCA does not live up to the name. Oh, and I tore my meniscus and ACL there and had my equipment stolen immediately after I got in the ambulance. They could not help me locate anything and just told me I was out of luck even though they have cameras. The only reason why I keep my membership active is because its the closest basketball court. I wish this place was better. UPDATE: The CEO, Shannon, gave me a phone call and provided top level service. I added a star for that. I wish everyone there was like her but its tough trying to train people to care. Only main takeaway is that the person in charge of key fobs is not doing their job and is scheduled at hours that are between 4-7am so communication is an issue especially when they dont want to respond."

"It's a bit run down. The track walls need to be repainted; not sure why it wasn't when they closed to repair and paint. One stationary bike has been broken for months; it's the only one that style. They "updated" their app but the only thing it's good for is your bar code to enter. No events, messages, calendar, or any way to contact them. When I asked when it would be complete, I was told "they're working in it". Also months ago. Why not keep the old app that worked while you create a better one? Staff regularly enters the track walking in the wrong direction, because they're headed to a classroom. But the classroom is accessible if you walk the right way too, or use another set of stairs. The public and children do this as well. Could be resolved with better signage and staff meetings. I've had several near collisions. It's the only facility with a walking track or I'd go to a different gym."

Fitness enthusiasts will love the well stocked weight and cardio room, basketball court, walking track, and the extensive list of classes they offer! I love the Portage YMCA because they look to fulfil the needs of their community and will dive in without hesitation."
