OB/GYN at The Village | University of Michigan Health-West

"I have birthed 3 of my babies here and like any hospital there are good and bad nurses. For the most part I’ve had a really positive experience. I had both dr Irving and dr elderkin as my obgyns. Dr Irving was great but I felt a better connection to Elderkin. She always listened and does anything to make sure you are safe/comfortable throughout your pregnancy. Her office is also very nice and accommodating. It is frustrating how little the office answers and how long hold times are sometimes but I’ll take the care I get with elderkin with longer wait times. It’s worth it for me. Also if you shoot a message through MyChart they answer very quickly in my experience. The labor and delivery department has always given me great care. They have pretty decent sized postpartum and labor rooms. And they also have made some changes which are nice. Dad and mom get 3 meals a day. 4 visitors at a time and they even gave me a little pampers bag filled with some self care items for myself and baby. I highly recommend metro to anyone who is looking for good care during their pregnancy and specifically Dr Elderkin."

"Getz was my OBGYN for my first baby. The staff and her were amazing. Then I recently had a miscarriage and Perski was incredibly informative, caring, and sweet. She and her team really helped me get through a tough time."

"Staff is horribly unprofessional! Extremely rude and answering the phone must not be a staff position there. Service has gone down hill since the UofM takeover. Multiple appointments rescheduled because doctor is out of office that day. Learn to keep a schedule. Will be switching to a new OB ASAP."

"Dr. Lown was great but the office is one of the worst I've seen. I could barely get the wheelchair I borrowed FROM THEM through the doors; they're all narrow, none have push buttons, and all have a high raised lip that's jolts you really painfully. The wheelchair barely fit in the elevator at all."

"The front desk staff/receptionists here need more training. I’ve worked in customer service for over 8 years. I understand high call volumes & tough days. However, I called 3 different times today. Sat on hold once for over 20 minutes. Finally, was able to speak to someone to schedule a follow up with my OB & the person asked for my personal info then disconnected the call. I called a second time (again holding for over 20 minutes) and spoke with another receptionist & she said she needed to check who I was speaking with- to see what happened. I explained it honesty didn’t matter I just need to schedule a follow up apt . She said “ok let me transfer you” & put me back to hold for over 20 minutes for a third time.. no respect for peoples time. (Sn- it will not allow me to schedule this apt on MyChart)"
