"What an unbelievable experience we had. My two boys and I booked a trip to ice fish. From the first time I contacted Eric, he went out of his way to ensure that my boys and I would have a great time. First, the cabin was spotless and filled with everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable. The ice has been a bit spotty this winter. Eric kept me up to date on ice conditions for the two weeks leading up to the trip. Upon our arrival, Eric pinpointed the exact spot on the lake to fish. We caught a ton of fish exactly where he said we would. My boys had the time of thier lives. I have been an avid outdoorsman my entire life. I have taken trips all over the world. I have never been treated as good as Eric treated my boys and I. We are already planning our next trips. One this fall and our second annual ice fishing trip. We will be repeat customers for sure. "I can't wait to come back!! My vacation preference is usually as remote as possible and driving up I figured we'd be in more of a motel situation. I WAS WRONG!! It was so peaceful and FUN!! We had our own little fire on the patio while the kids played games in the lounge. The other guests had theirs at the lakeside pits. Took the kayaks and pedal boat out for a spin on the lake, even my 6 year old felt safe in the shallow waters off the dock. The beds were ACTUALLY comfortable, and as a chronic pain sufferer that was huge for making my stay enjoyable and allowing me to participate in activities. And everyone we had the pleasure of meeting just added to the great experience!! Eric and his staff were beyond accommodating and became quick friends. Do yourself a favor and book a stay."

"Very clean an quiet, perfect size beach with good clean sand which is not typical for most nearby Houghton Lake resorts. Awesome fire pit. Plenty of comfortable seating, swings. Cabins 100% stocked . Cable. Easy pull out couch Nice picnic table inside cabins for dining an storage. All patios paved and covered. Also with a picnic table. Above average grills. Garbage maintained daily. Owner available at all times but only when needed or questions need to be asked. Fishing boat w high HP motor and pontoon available. Kayak, paddle boat available for anytime use. Playground, bball, bags of ice, community area with free games. This is just a small portion, all other information and amenities is on the website. My entire family was more impressed in person. My family has been to most of the resorts in that general area of Houghton for many decades and the SUNSET Resort!!! Is the BEST!!"

"My family stayed during late August 2020 in a cabin and the main house. The rooms were all clean, spacious, and accommodating. We rented the pontoon (we're first time novices). The owner was highly knowledgeable and was a great help getting us up to speed with the boat. We had a very memorable stay in Houghton lake thanks to this resort and the friendly atmosphere. The owner even patched the tire on our rental van for us, when we got a flat! 5 stars for sure!"

"Excellent experience! A few groups of friends and ourselves stayed here a couple years ago. We had the top floor of the large house. Everything was clean, lots of amenities and the owners were great people. It felt like home away from home in a way. We went for a wedding held down the road at my friends lakefront house and we forgot some things when we left. The owner kindly dropped them off to my friends cottage. That to me was excellent customer service alone. They have a great deck, sun room, activity room and other great scenery. I highly recommend this resort!"
