"I stayed here one day before a camping trip further into the UP. I really hope I remembered her name right but Josie was extremely friendly, helpful and informative. I am assuming this place is newer. If it isn't then it is in amazing condition. This is the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Giant comfy king bed, big tv, full sized fridge, stove, coffee maker and full kitchen supplies/utensils. Bathroom was very nice as well. Parking along the front of the building and they have security cameras everywhere/key card entry. Right next to a cool rock store, walmart, gas stations, food..IDEAL location to stock up or reup for camping!"

"Wonderful experience! I booked through a third party website and the room description was a bit unclear. I was looking for a fairly priced room with good ratings for a one-night stay. Independence Stay fit the bill. It was a great experience from check in to check out! Plenty of parking. Check in was easy and very smooth. There was fresh coffee and some snacks in the lobby (cereal bars and pastries, nothing fancy but perfect for a light snack after a long drive). This is a brand new hotel. Everything was very clean. My room was very spacious. It was a little warm when I checked in but the ac unit was very efficient and not noisy like I've seen in some other hotels. The great thing is that all rooms are equipped with a kitchenette. Apartment sized refrigerator, a cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, and they supply dishes, cookware, and silverware. The site I booked on didn't mention that so it was a pleasant surprise for me. Bed was very comfortable. The best part was no noise! I believe the hotel was near capacity but I didn't hear anything. No noise from adjacent rooms, no people taking in the hallway, nothing. There is no breakfast offered at the hotel but they did have some fruit, cereal bars, and pastries along with coffee in the lobby. This hotel is in a great location. It is a quick drive to several restaurants, so if you really have to have a big breakfast, there are options. Or you could bring your own breakfast items and cook for yourself. That would have been more practical for me if I was staying for multiple nights. Check out was super smooth and easy as well. I would defiantly stay again"
