Berkley Animal Hospital

"It seems that many of the bad reviews here are from dog owners. I can't speak to that experience, since I rely on Berkley Animal Hospital for their exotic animal care. For my rabbit, the service has been first rate, with the techs demonstrating great care and affection, and the doctors demonstrating great expertise. Exotic animal care can be nerve-wracking, but I have always found guidance and reassurance from this hospital. Wait times can be long, especially if there is an emergency walk-in (which there often is, due to the hospital's accessible location). Dogs (and their owners) are often excitable and high volume, so I'm grateful for the low stress waiting area, which I use when bringing in my rabbit. Other vets I have visited seem to be short-staffed (and disorganized as a result of short staff), but Berkeley Animal Hospital certainly doesn't have that issue. There are plenty of staff and they all knowledgeable and friendly. No complaints."

"Please do not take your pet here. This quality and care at this clinic has declined significantly in the past 3 years. I live a block away and would love nothing more than to have a local vet that can take care of my dog, but after 3 years I have moved vets. I actually drive 15 minutes (when I used to walk to the vet) but it's worth it. Issues: * The same vet is never there. You get someone different almost every time and theirs no connected care. * They really like to upcharge or offer services more frequently than they should. I found out they were having me do 6 month heart screens when an annual screen was recommended. * The facility itself is older and showing signs of decline. Its starting to smell (I get it, it's a vet, but there should be standards). * No one owns this place. Who is the head? Who do you contact when you're having a problem? The only consistent person is the receptionists and they don't have the authority to change anything Please take my word and find somewhere else."

"I absolutely love this place! I have multiple exotic pets and this place is the best for them. The vet is extremely knowledgeable and honest and the techs are friendly! It's worth my 30 minute drive every single time!"

"They are very compassionate and good with my small animals. They helped me through the difficulty of putting one of my beloved rats to sleep and made a beautiful ink paw print and fur vial for me to keep to remember her. My other two rats were nervous to be at the vet, but the doctor handled them very carefully and wrapped them up so that she could check them. I really appreciate the compassion and warmth of everyone who works here."

"Unfortunately, the team and systems used at Berkley Animal Clinic are NOT designed for the safety of Animals. My dog's life was put in serious risk when I brought her in for a routine visit and shared I believed my dog was pregnant. The vet did not run the test required to validate this but shared she did not believe my dog was pregnant. I was charged over 400 for my visit and was charged for testing they were not able to complete. My dog gave birth 2 weeks later to a little of 9 puppies of which one died. I'd like to belive if my dog had proper care leading up to her giving birth that puppy could have made it... I told the office and they didn't care, nor correct the over charge, or apologize for putting my dog and her puppies lives in danger... You can go here if you want to, but I will never go back."
